Trip to Washington By Car
Hi everyone,
First of all, I would like to thank you this forum and our members for sharing and giving me advices last couple months for getting an ID and how to get to Washington safely. Last week I decided to go to Seattle after spending too many years sitting at home and taking buses from states to states. I have planned this trip for over 3 weeks after doing tons of research and PM. I broke my trip into 2 routes: from Austin to Denver and from Denver to Seattle. The 2 states I worried most about were TX and WA since each shares a border with another country. I rented 2 cars. My aunt drove the first one and I was in the second car. The purpose of having 2 cars was to if my aunt crosses any checkpoint, she will call me and I will take a different route. We left TX on Sunday and arrived at Denver Sunday late evening. No Checkpoints on interstate 35 and highway 287. On Monday we drove from Denver to Seattle. When we entered Washington, I was very anxious and nervous. But luckily, to my surprise, there was none. It was too good to be true. 2,400 miles and 60 hours drive (15 hours for stops), I made it into Seattle safely on Tuesday morning. That afternoon I went straight to the DMV and I was stunned again to realize they accepted my application and granted me an ID. The whole process took literally one minute. My first American government ID will be mailed to me within next week. I will stay here for another month to get a DL. I am thankful to get here safely and be able to get the ID. I will use it to support DREAM Act to the very fullest. May the best come to us! |

I was actually thinking of going this summer to get a driver's license. Do you think you can give me some more details about your trip? You can pm me if you dont feel like saying it here. Thanks and congrats on your id!

Re: Trip to Washington By Car
Congrats, that's very smart using two cars! How did you rent a car anyway without having a license? or you used a foreign license?

I am very happy this went well for you, Vinter. Now you can travel freely with your new ID. I hope you get your DL without any problems..and WA is awesome.

Re: Trip to Washington By Car
Yay Vinter! The only thing I'm worried about is like what if they realize that we are all going there to get the ID and they change the rules, kind of what they did in Maryland? Like if the A l i p a c reads this stuff.
