Media Coverage - MSNBC The Ed Show

Not sure if anyone else is watching, but seems like immigration is coming back into the media. The Ed Show on MSNBC is talking about it right now, having a debate between several people.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. It isn't about the DREAM Act specifically, but it was about the Obama administration and if immigration should be something that they work on right now. Nothing really substantial, two or three conservatives saying that it was bad, amnesty etc etc, Al Sharpton saying he supported it, and the Ed guy balancing it out by asking questions in a way that seemed like he supported immigration reform.

It certainly has been a subject of discussion on the Fox news network so you know that got the opposition scared and calling. Just keep that in mind..the more media coverage it gets the more the opposition gets to action....Newtons Law...we're it now.

I don't mean to highjack your thread, but has anyone seen the Ed Show?

I'm really really happy that MSNBC hired this guy. Don't get me wrong, I love Keith and Rachel, but they're not appealing to working class whites, for instance. NYC and LA totally love them though.

I feel like Ed channels a democratic Hannity, O'Reilly, and Beck (kind of like what Bill Clinton is to Republicans) so that if any moderate happens to flip the channel from Fox News to MSNBC, they might actually like this guy and begin to soften their feelings on something like immigration.

Also, his studio is kind of cool.

Is anyone here interested in starting a media section where we can have a concerted effort to counter the negative messages from the established media channels and push back on the language used to describe the current immigration discussion.

All the polls that are being conducted are asking skewed questions to give answers that suggests that americans are against any form of reprieve for hardworking immigrants(see poll questions on CNN or Fox)

We should continue to write senators and reps but a concerted effort should be put on journalist and opinion shapers. After the biased questioning of NYTimes article by CNN, FOX and others about the timing of immigration proposal it is no shock that the administration is backing down a little bit because the response from our side was defensive rather than offensive.

We should remind write to magazines on blogs, use spanish media outlets to get the message across that the will be a political price to pay if some form of relief does not come for immigrants in 2009 because we have waited long enough since 2001.

This is a moment of truth for the administration. It is either they believe in the "fierce urgency of now" or they don't. Hispanics and other groups should remind democrats that hispanics can stay home during the next election cycle if nothing is done this year. We should push for CIR and if we get DA as a consolation prize then so be it. If you start negotiating from a position that we are only asking for DA then the republicans will water any final bill down, but if you start with CIR and only get the current DA that would not be the worst outcome in the world.

Right now the MEDIA is the key, we can not lose this media and PR game this time around. Lets put our brains, words and technological know how to win the message battle.

Any news on if Oprah wants to comment on the Dream?

I down. I've been thinking about it for some time now, and I think we should start with our advocates (MSNBC, DailyKos, etc.) and not waste our time with the opposition (Fox News, CNN).

Haha, this guy's pretty cool. He's going to talk to a person from AFL-CIO about immigration in a few minutes, I assume it's about the news that the two largest labor unions have agreed on how immigration should be handled.

Not to high jack this thread or anything, but I was watching CNN @ around 6:20 P.M & the fellow who did the CNN campaign map said that Obama basically has the votes as of today for CIR.:)

I even recorded it on DVR to make sure I see if I can put up the video sometime tomorrow.
