What Can I Do?
Okay so, I came to the U.S with my family when I was 3. We came from S.Korea.
The thing is, I was under my moms ssn and she thought that I would get my own even if she didn't release me under her name. Things didnt work out according to plan. My parents did everything they needed to do. Pay, Interview and wait. But now im 16, waited for 13 years of our lives and guess what? nothing. No green card, no new ssn for me, nothing at all. What am i doing now? im still waiting, trying figure out a way to get all the things i need. So far I dont think ive come across anyone in the same situation as i am. My status is pending... its been like that for 13 years... how long does this thing take? Now im counting on the dream act. if anyone know a way i can get a green card or ssn in my situation that would be awesome! I want to drive but i cant, i cant go to a major university cause i cant apply for finacial aid. Please help me .. More Info.. My dad came with a L1 Visa and me and mom came with a L2 Visa. Problem is dads sponsor company no long exists and so there was no way to renew it. I now have a passport but its for korea.. Which has no affect in US. and no visa.. My little brother was born here and is a citizen but that has nothing to do with anything right? |

Re: What Can I Do?
Im not sure I think we all are pending...From what i know.
They can work and make businesses, also can drive and has ssn.. thats all i know. pretty much do everything but go out of the country.. like cant go to korea or canada... etc |
Re: What Can I Do?
I am pretty sure that if your parents are legalized on the country which it seems they are since they have ssn and are able to work legally at least... unless you don't know and they have fake everything like many others in that case you would have to talk to them. but if they are real it shouldn't be as hard. talk to them about it and tell them to open the game up with ya.

Re: What Can I Do?
aaron, your situation sounds really similar to mine. (I'm Korean too, and I came when I was 4!) and I have a brother that is your age but fortunately he was born here.
Unfortunately it seems that these GC apps get denied all the time, which is what happened to my mom... Right now all we can do is wait around till the DREAM act gets passed... unless you want to go back to Korea and live there. (From what I read on the forums, you don't get banned until you're over 18 ). My guess is that if you're anything like me, you're much more Korean-American than you are Korean. We just might not fit in back in the motherland. |
Re: What Can I Do?
angelina,
Your right. I am more Korean american. Alot more american style now. My little brother also was born here. lucky =.= there no way im back to korean. until i become a US Citizen. I dont want to go to the army..but i do miss my family members there.. Yeah.. your right we do have to wait.. you know what would suck tho? IF IT DOESNT PASS!. |
