White House postpones immigration meeting, again

According to Politico, the President has put off the immigration meeting yet again with no set date this time.
Quote:

The White House announced this spring it would be hosting a big meeting on immigration policy — a signal that Obama cares about the issue, and perhaps a chance to rub salt in open Republican wounds, if not a serious attempt to move immigration reform this year.

But the meeting was postponed from its original date, June 8, to June 17 — and now it's being postponed again, White House officials have told advocates, with no set date but hopes to do it later in the month. Officials, I'm told, are blaming the supplemental for the delays.

Ana Navarro, a Florida Republican activist who has been arguing that Republicans have a chance to seize the initiative from Obama on this issue and repair their image, e-mails, "Nobody knows when it is. Nobody knows who is going. Nobody knows what the agenda is."

"They are stringing along the immig[ation] advocates and Latino groups to whom Obama owes so much," she writes. "Latinos need to stand their ground, hold his feet to the fire and demand that he deliver on repeated promises to get this done within first year or call him out on it. This is a litmus test for Hispanics, and one which so far Obama is failing."

Postponed indefinitely? Great to see how seriously they take the issue.

like i said, they're swamped with other stuff. they dont even know whos going to attend or even what to discuss about something they tout as high priority yet postpones it for "supplementals". when did immigration fall behind "supplementals"? LOL

and they certainly will not be voting on this thing during election year. looks like 2011 is slowly becoming a reality. sucks big time :/

Yesterday, I was reading this article that Ruben Navarrette wrote (it was posted on the Pasadena Star News) about immigration. What is interesting is the last paragraph he wrote,
Quote:

Meanwhile, with Democrats in Washington mmostly paralyzed with fear at the prospect of addressing immigration reform, it was inspiring to see a Republican governor fearlessly grab the issue by the throat. It's a good lesson for those in our nation's capital who talk a good game, dribble all over the court, but are afraid to take their shot. Mr. President, watch and learn.
That is basically what is going, our lovely democrats and our President are dodging an issue that needs to be addressed NOW. I am actually disappointed that this is happening.

By the way, here is the URL for the article by Navarrette: http://www.pasadenastarnews.com/opinions/ci_12563397

This is all strategies probably used to ensure it passes. Politics is not a black and white thing. I do not think President Obama is postponing it because he is trying to ignore it. On the contrary i believe he is doing it because he sees it as the best way to help it pass. Political world is a complex world, and only those with accurate information on the situation and good strategies can succeed.

President Obama is one of the most intelligent man in the world. He knows what he is doing and i trust him. So should every one else.
