Is it true that all SSN start with 5 or 6.
 
So I got in argument today, is it true that all SSN start with 5 or 6? Any way to find out?

No.

Actually as far as I know 6 is from California and 4 is from Texas but it varies. You can Google this info.

Mine starts with 334..and i am from illinois.

6 is also Texas too. I beleive the first 3 digits, are used to identify the location where the SS request was made. ie. North Cal, SoCal, South Texas, East Texas

the first three digits correspond to the state, or more specifically zipcode your initial SS was issued. the middle two are for administrative purposes but number from '01' to '98.' the last four digits are based on when you are assigned a number. So my whole family has the same number separated by the last digit.
the first three numbers start from east to west increasing along the way. So you'll have new England numbers starting with say '012' and a california/hawaii beginning with an '8' or '9'

yes it is a real number. i got it when i was in legal status. On the SSN..it says" valid to work only with the authorization of DHS".
