embarrasing stories

hello im a newbee here too ;)
and i would like to hear your embarrassing/funny stories, i know we all have some
dealing with our status....
like the worst lie you've told sumone when making an excuse why you
dont have a license.. and stuff like that...

well il share mine first of course...
there was a concert at the house of blues and i really wanted to go
because it was my favorite artist that was going to be performing. There was a 17 and older age requirement and i was excited because i meet it...oh but the thing is you needed a valid ID. crap. So i bought the the ticket anyway, i didn't know how i was going to get in but i had it in my head i was. Come concert day my boyfriend pops out with his older sisters ID.. she looks NOTHING like me..
i was freaking out while i was waiting for the guy to check the ID, imagining scenes where the guy would boot me out of the line.
but i guess he didn't care i looked nothing like her, he stared at it a bit and let me in... i was so stoked :DD (good concert by the way)
maybe not the most embarrasing but hey we all have little funny stories to tell

Bouncers in general aren't too picky about checking girl's ID's. I wonder why...

But anyway, I hear ya on the ID thing. I'm running out of excuses for my friends as to why I won't go get an ID. I told them I can't my my driver's license because of an OWI and insurance is too much. They don't get why I won't just get an ID "They are only 8 bucks dood."

I was at my parents' house a few weeks ago and my mom was going through some immigration papers and she pulled out my TEMPS. haha. So now I'm using a college photo ID and my TEMPS to get into bars. Pathetic? Yah, i know.

Re: embarrasing stories

my worst lie about not having a license, umm lets see.

Maybe it was when I told the person that clearly did not have a license that I did but did not bring it with me, which was followed by her asking for advice of how she should take the up coming driving exam. First of all it was one of those slip up that I saw coming out of my mouth in slow motion as I said it. I then proceded to say what I thought would be in a driver's exam even though I had never taken such an exam in my life, and had not really driven a car much (maybe a couple times in a parking lot).

embarrasing situations almost always happens when I go to a place like Dave and Busters, or gameworks with some friends and they try to ID me at the entrance (i am 21) but lack an ID. I was saved once because one of the people in my party was not over 18 yet so I did not have to come up with a story as to why i did not have my ID there (and trust me, I was thinking hard for the 5 minutes since it was suggested were we were going).

ohh and other embarrasing situations are obviously the ones where you can't simply not do anything except say the truth regardless of who is there. For example in a school office after turning in some papers for a dual enrollment class I had enrolled in that was going to be offered in school (I thought that since it was offered in school there was no other application process, there was and it needed an SSN number). I could not faced whoever was there and so now I do not know if any other student would have been within earshot, but observing how my school is notorious for spreading rumors in record time I guess there was no one.

i have had a few times where I've had to think quick on my feet and failed miserably
but one time I applied to this job with a fake # and they told me they would run a background check on me,check my ssn, and a day later they called me and told me everything had checked out great and I got the job.when a friend of mine was applying to a similar job and was scared they would do the same to her and find her dui record , I forgot about my situation I told her to not worry because when I got my job they told me they were gonna run a background check on me but they hadn't done that. so she asked " how do you know they didn't?" after a few seconds of silence I said I dont know probably not?
hooray for awkward silence and confusion :)

Re: embarrasing stories

I remember the day that my boss found out that I was undocumented. My boss got a phone call from the home office. They told her that they needed a copy of my social security card because the number that they had on file did not match my name. I had no choice but to tell my boss the truth. Doing so was both scary and embarrassing. Nevertheless, my boss really liked me; I am good at what I do and she never had any problems with me. She called the home office and pulled some strings. I was able to continue working and lasted 11 years with that company. Anyway, telling her was quite embarrassing.

Well, it's not that hard to get that ID here in cali either. It's just that people who have it kinda feel and know they are illegal by having it. If you go with friend and say you're a tourist, i'm sure they'll look at you like

Re: embarrasing stories

At first I couldn't think of an embarrasing story, but after I thought about it for 2 WHOLE minutes, I remembered something that happened to me that was not just embarrasing, it almost made me cry/die right in front of everyone.

It was my senior year in high school, and I was sitting at school hanging out with my friends. A lot of my friends were juniors, so they were all saying, "what are we goin to do without you when you graduate?" Then, one of them said, "wait, where are you going after you graduate? You must be going away to college and we won't ever see you anymore."

So everyone turned to look at me. I didn't know what to say.

I quickly came up with the dumb excuse of "taking a year off." I must say that I didn't have the smartest girl friends in high school, but even they thought it was a dumb idea! They began lecturing me on how stupid it was for me to take a year off, and that I was going to forget everything.. blah, blah, blah--all things I knew already. But I had to keep arguing and telling them that it was what I wanted to do.

They kept bugging me after for the rest of the year. But one day, one of my friends was like, "well, she can just travel." Ha, I wish. So it got around and they all thought I was going to travel. Even in my HS graduation, when they announced my name and my plans for the future, they said: "plans to travel." I felt like such a pathetic loser, and I'm sure that's what everyone that was there thought.
I guess that's why I just want to die when I think of my HS graduation and I don't feel like it's one of my proudest moments.

But oh well..I just try to avoid thinking about my senior year altogether, since it was my worst year of HS. Go figure.
