There are six pages of stories in the New Members section of the forum. That should be plenty. Enjoy. :)

Sipossiamo,

Is everything alright? Guys, lets be a bit more supportive w/the people on this forum. Most of us don't have a person that we can rant to about our situations, and obviously sipossiamo needs support for a reason.

Well I have to agree with you, but due to the request, you also have to agree that its very open and meets the general qualities of what we have posted in the past.

I encourage sipossiamo to ask us what he needs support with, we would be very glad to help. I will answer what I assume that you need help with.

and yes, we are out there. We are many people out there, living life in this country; either working, or studying. Many of us have probably been here since too early to remember the nation of birth, and some where to young to even be aware of such memories. There has even been a story posted here by an individual that can't even claim any family what-so-ever in his country of birth, or even speak the language. We have all been through some very stressful times since the 9/11 attacks, some of us might have been absent from school when ICE started to go into public places to round up people (some radio stations started reporting they hit some schools, i never knew if that was true but my district recorded record numbers of absences, then I knew that maybe I was not alone, I was not absent though), I have also known people that were deported, not too closely though.

But even after all that we are still out there, we are still trying hard to live as normal a life as we can, and we are still excelling. Some of use have gotten into some good schools, many of us have been working to support our families, and we have been sort of pulling a double shift with out lives. Hopefully, in the next few months we will see some change in a positive manner. We have a new president, a mostly democratic senate and house, and last time the DA came to vote it almost passed. There has been some changes to appease those that opposed it the last time, mainly a limitation on age, and the added serving in the military bit being a matter that could make you applicable. The president has been behind this act, and has even gone as far as proposing a far broader plan that could open the roads for not just students but most people in hiding, in that light I think the DA has a stronger chance of passing now then before. The estimates go that something will happen before this year ends, I hope so.

As for me, a few months after the attacks my dad was fired from his job due to not having a social, then he got injured in his other job (a family doctor that knew of our situation helped us for free), that resulted in me starting to work to support the family almost a year after the attacks (note bene I was in 8th grade), went on working and still studying in school up until junior year. managed to get into college on at least a half scholarship and now I am still attending college. All our stories can be very different in the beginning but I think many are looking at the same ends, Will we be able to go to college? what will we do after college? Will we be able to use our degrees?

He said that he wanted stories, so I suggested that he search for them; there are tons of stories and intros in the new members area. If he feels frustrated, then he should definitely write about his frustration and whatever else is making him feel blue. Doing so will allow many of us to elaborate on the subject matter, and thus, be far more helpful and supportive.

By the way supp, you should start a blog too. It helps vent shit out. Make sure that you allow for comments so that there is more interaction.

Heyy guys, thanks for replying.

First of all, i'm a girl. so please refer to me as "she" :)

And second of all, I've read all the stories. I was just a bit frustrated with so much, and had lots of things going through my head that it was just my way of ranting out a bit. It was one of those "scream at the top of your lung" moments. However, I am better now.

Anyway, I'm looking to transfer college for the fall of 2010. I am from Florida, and majoring in Psychology. I definitely have some schools in mind. Especially in the Massachusetts area. I have fallen in love with it. Anyone else in thsi situation? or anyone that has gone through it and has some advice as to scholarships and such?

thanks in advanceee.

If you are frustrated, write what you are frustrated about and we can read and lend you support girl. Now as far as school goes. Do a search for scholarships or look through some of the threads. The reason I tell you this is because there are tons of threads where people have written so much useful information in regards to school and school financing, and most of us would not be able to do such threads justice with a recap. Seriously, there is tons of info in this forum.
