Serious Help.. Selective Service Letter?
A couple months ago when I was still in High School I got a Letter from the "United States Government SELECTIVE SERVICE SYSTEM" telling that I must register and I didnt.. because I'm not sure what to do since I'm in a different situation that others are.. I ignored it.. so today my uncle told me that someone had sent a letter to me but it had arrived at his house.. It was the same letter but this time said.. this
"Refusal to register is a federal crime punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and up to 5 years imprisonment, or both. If we do not hear from you within 10 days, we have no choice but to send your name to the Department of Justice with a request that you be prosecuted for refusing to register." Idk what to do............ |
Re: Serious Help.. Selective Service Letter?
You have to register. Don't worry, it's perfectly safe to do so. I think the guys on this forum have talked about this before and they've registered. Use the search feature and type in 'selective service' and you should be able to find answers.

Why are you afraid to register..? You have to do it, it's not a bad thing.

Re: Serious Help.. Selective Service Letter?
Or you can: not register, ride a motorcycle and be a kick ass rebel. Like someone I know.
However, I strongly suggest you register since it will help you in the future, and be a "good boy" |

Re: Serious Help.. Selective Service Letter?
The home page of the SS website says that it doesnt require any information that indicates if you are undocumented or not, you just have to get an app from the post office leave your SSN blank and mail it in, then you've fullfilled your duty and you're good to go.

What if one never gets the letter?

Re: Serious Help.. Selective Service Letter?
I don't think I ever got a letter, but based on what the website says, we are supposed to sign up regardless. As long as we are between the ages of 18 and 26.
