Is there a healthcare plan we're allowed to apply for?

Hi guys....

I've searched on the forum about this, but I couldn't find the answer anywhere. Can someone help me?

Currently, I'm a dependent of my mom's health insurance from her work (she has legal papers to work, so this was possible) but her insurance now have to cut me out by the end of this month because of my age (25) unless I can prove that I'm physically or mentally disable, which is not possible. The problem is that even though I'm not disable, I had heart surgery this January and will be needing follow up visits from my doctor and the hospital within the next few months. I have paperwork to prove this and I will be sending it to the insurance company to request for an extension, but I don't think it qualifies since....of course....it's not a dissability proof.

Are there other options for us regarding healthcare? I'm trully in need of one =(

you would either have to apply for a private insurance on your own which are very costly especially since you already had surgery or go to the low cost health facilities that exist in your area for low income people...this is all i know since i had to apply for health insurance for my son when chip no longer accepted him, most private insurance companies dont require a ss number...hope that helps.

It depends. Do you go to school? If you do then, you could apply through them. All you would need is your student ID. The school should have all your info. Some schools offer it real cheap also. (30-60$ a month)

depending on where you live, there might be programs around.

I know that where I used to reside there is a sort of government funded insurance plan, which you can qualify for if you meet certain financial needs. You might want to find out if the area where you live there is such a thing, public hospitals might know and be able to steer you in the right direction if it exists.

BTW, this is program is in Miami, if you are from there and want more information about it, you can PM me.

Actually, if I was, it would've been easier for me because instead of disability proof, the other option was to send them a copy of a full-time college schedule supposed I am currently enrolled in a college. The problem is, I graduated two years ago and will cost me more to go back just for that purpose =(.

Thanks, I will look into that. The hospital I'm going to do have a financial program that could help me. The only problem is that they require me to fill up a financial statement form that asks for SS and bank account info.
