My parents have a large savings, so they are paying for most of it; and I will pay them back when I can. Same here, got offered several TA and RA positions and several stand-alone grants and stipends, all state, military, or federally funded. Even private schools wouldn't give me a grant, because tuition stipends in most cases are covered in part by NSF or NIST or ONR or DOE or DOD or USMC ....whatever other federal, state, or military agency there is. Some admission committees are understanding and morally supportive but their hands are tied by the federal and state regulations. Others pick like 1 undocummented student for posterity and if a great wealth private school accepts 15 people all together, being that one undocummented student among all the other minorities/special cases that that they accept that year is virtually impossible. |
