I got stopped today by a cop

i was on my way to work and i got stopped, my heart was beating fast, i told the cop i was going to my dads house, not to work. I gave him my student ID and registration. I had no license. He checked my background with the info i gave him (height, weight, name adress).

He asked if i had ever been arrested i said no. He wrote me a fixing ticket and said i had to show up to court and fix my license problem. (yeah he actually didnt suspect i was undocumented) He just said " i dont know why someone like you would not have a license" . Why do you think you moron?! Cus your stupid ass country wont let me.

I was a block away from work and i was afraid my boss would see me and they would come tow my car away and i wouldve been exposed. The cop was nice enough (if you want to call it that) to have my dad come pick my car up. While waiting for my dad to arrive, i stood there with the cop quite thinking about this life we are living. Thinking how unfair it is to be treated this way. I did not have any emotions (surprisingly) I just stood there living in the moment knowing life is not bound by our human imperfect laws. We are bound by laws of nature, true and justful. No one can make us stop living, they can only make us live in fear.

I just thought to myself after this moment of thinking, "whats the worse that can happen" and "other people have it worse, eg. Iraq, drug addicts, forster child, africa etc.. So lets just get this ticket paid and move on and find new ways to surcumbent the law, I WILL NOT STOP DRIVING, I will find a different way , just like a river finds a new way to flow to the ocean. I will.

you know i've been there... The first time I was pulled over it was at night and I was on my way home. I was about 4 blocks way from my house and the cop turned on his lights. I was supper nervous! The cop came to the window and said he pulled me over 'cause the light on my plates was not working. I told him I was not aware. He asked for my DL and told him I didn't have one. He asked why and I told Him 'cause I was unable to get one. So he asked where I was going and stuffs and I told him. Thank God he was hispanic..he just told me to get the lights fixed and he let me go.

The second time my sister and I were on our way to school. I was driving normally and all of a sudden a sheriff pulled behind me. I was confused... he came to the window and asked who owened the van I was driving and how long we've had it. I told him it was my dad's and we'd had it for like 2 years. Then he asked if I knew some guy (a white guy I think) and I said no. He continued saying that they were looking for a guy who was driving a similar van so he figured I was not him, oviously, and told me to be safe. God to the rescue again!

The third time was recently. I was on my way home from work on a stop sign and the come crossed that intersection. I truned and saw thru my rearview mirror that the cop was turning back. I turned into a street towards my block, and the cop turns his lights.. I was like "what the heck?!?!" he (african american) came to the window and said..."you almost hit me back there!!...you didnt really stop!" and I was like "WHAT!?!?!?" seriously he threw me off!!! I was not nervous at all that time. I was upset!! I calmed down and just told him. Ok I guess!... he asked for my DL told him I didnt have one. He asked for an ID an I gave him my school ID. He did his searching and what not and came back. He gave me a ticket for no DL and that was all.

This is no luck or anything I know God is taking care of me. If he wasnt, then why am I here in the U.S still.

My advice is that you drive carefully and just say the truth. You'll be suprised in God's faithfulness.

yea, I understand the frustration. I don't know about you but, your comment, especially the last bit caught my attention. I feel like I'm a part of this country where the law doesn't acknowledge or lack for a better word, want me to contribute. So it's like being in a dysfunctional family where your doing whatever you can to help yourself but no one is really appreciating the progress that your making. It's really a frustrating thing that we all have to deal with on a DAILY basis, but we keep on pushing to survive.

And things can be worse, relatively speaking. So we can't really compare who got it better or worse, because then we loose sight of the very problem we're trying to solve and that is We were all brought over to the states by our families at a young age, grew up in the American education system, graduated high school, some can go to college some can't (depending on which States), without being able to drive, work legally, contribute, ultimately live in a place where we spent the majority of our lives living. Stay Positive, and don't give up on the people who don't understand the importance of the DreamA.

Re: I got stopped today by a cop

Well I live in Dallas, TX...

and yes God is good..all the time!

I'm breaking the law by driving w/o a DL but I cannot stay handicap like the other person said above.... like I said...i try my best to drive safely and thanks to my Daddy (God) that always takes care of me..I'm still here...

Yea i thought the same thing that ppl are arested if they dont have a LD... a few months back a friend of mine who is in the same situation as us, was stopped by a cop and she was arrested because she didnt have a DL and within days deported....

I really don't know..it is confusing... now there are also certain areas here in TX were some authorities are tougher on immigrants...well..if they suspect someone is a immigrant..for example Irving (where my friend was stopped) and Farmers Branch....authorities there have said they dont like immigrants and will stop anyone who looks like an immigrant...now..how does an immigrant look?!..seriously this is non-sense...
