Chance to get deported while looking for job??

Based on people who say here "looking for a job is also a full time job itself".

So I assume some of you really looked for like 50+ jobs and most likely rejected due to no SSN or background check, if not the skill requirements.

Just wondering tho... Is there a chance that you can get deported while applying for a job and they find you have no SSN or they find/assume you are undocumented? You know it only takes a few seconds to call ICE, I think.

Also I think it can also be possible if you decided to quit or you have problems with employer and they know your status and then they either threaten to call ICE or maybe they call ICE.

Has there been any cases like that?

actually you shouldn't get deported while applying for a job. i've never heard about that before. but i've heard and seen cases where jobs actually call ice and have their employees arrested for having fake documents. i used to work at foxwoods and let me tell you, ice goes there all the time and arrest people. it's very scary. i applied at mohegan sun to work for bobby flay and i got the job but those people really checked everything about me and they told me that my SSS doesn't authorize me to work and my work authorization card isn't valid. i was in their office for a long time answering a bunch of questions. how long i've been living in ct ,when did i arrive, how did i get my SSS card and when. i went home crying and scared. Thank god they never called ICE on me even though they're allowed to. please don't tell any of your co-workers and managers about your situation because they might use that against you.

Interesting,I sometimes use to go to Foxwoods but only had a passport to prove I was over 21 waaay back when I didn't have ID the Floor security use to act like jack asses, but Mohegan was much cooler for some reason.

Sorry for the off-topic,Anyway on topic it depends on the sensitivity of the job or if the job is located close to a sensitive area.If it is then you'd have some issues with the job.

oh ianus, i didn't know you live in ct?? yeah your right those security people are jack asses, they're so rude and they think they're in charge. lots of people enjoy going to mohegan sun instead of foxwoods. mohegan pays better also. next time take the elevator so you don't have to deal with security.

When you apply for a job if your social security number doesn't match, they will ask you to correct it and you can just tell them that you already got another job and thank them.

I think you should always try and use your tax ID number rather than a fake SS number. GL!

You do not have to answer anything to an employer, you don't want to talk about. Just say that there's a mistake in ur paperwork somehow and that you need to call INS to figure it out and that you will re-apply. Again thank them.

In case they call ICE and you are arrested say that you need to call your lawyer. Call home and immediately get a lawyer through your parents or someone you trust. Tell ICE officers that you have a lawyer and that he/she will be in the way to speak with them about any questions and do not answer about anything. The should not ask you anything specially after you have told them that you have a representative (lawyer) if they do, say you are sorry but the lawyer has better understanding of your case and refuse to speak anything at all! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

If they do ask questions after you let them know about the lawyer, let the lawyer know this when you talk to him in private. The lawyer needs to know if the agents harrased you and he will decided if they broke the law.

*************

If you do not already have a lawyer I strongly advice anyone to get aquanted to a few ask questions and shop around for one. You need to have a lawyer handy so you won't be overcharged for law services in case you have a problems. Lawyers for the most part do not charge you anything to keep them handy and give free consultation if they think that you will call them when you need help. Your best bet is to find someone from your own nationality (Whom wil be able to understand you better) or a reputable lawyer.

GL!

is it just you and me who lives in ct. but loquito if you ever want to meet up for coffee this summer or at the casino then let me know.. ICE is not going to wait around until your lawyers arrive. they're going to bring you to jail then you can have your lawyer around. basically i'll im saying is you don't have to tell your co workers about your situation about this because you never know
