Need answers...

Hey guys my name is Sergio and I am currently a junior in a private high school. I came to the US around the age of one, and have been attending and excelling in school ever since. My dad was an illegal immigrant, as was my mom, but my dad got ahold of some papers of I believe some deceased friend. I am not entirely sure and am not proud of it, but he is a US citizen now and was able to give my mom papers and she is a permanent resident.

They did not file a form for me all my childhood, I am not sure why , maybe for economic reasons or maybe because they were too scared to try. Whatever the case, my life has reached a turning point with my mom's decision of moving to the US with my sisters (both of whom are US citizens). My parents are separated but not divorced and are on friendly terms. She went because of the cheaper rent and to pave a better way for the future. It has kinda-sorta worked since she raised enough money to buy a car and other things. But I have a huge hole in my heart because I am now stuck with my grandma and I cry myself to sleep at night thinking about what my real family is doing and if I'm wasting my academic life.

In the midst of all this, my dad worked up the courage to file my I-130 and the USCIS received it on December 31st, 2009. I was just wondering if anyone knew how much time it would take for me to live with my mom again and keep my college dream alive. I hope to become a NY Times journalist, and please somebody give me an approximation, anything to keep me from being depressed all the time. I am not a naturally sad person and I feel so hopeless. Also, will USCIS get suspicious? I am in need of answers. Please.

* I'm sorry guys I made a mistake :P. I meant that my mom and sisters moved to MEXICO again. They did not mean to hurt me or anything, I'm afraid I portrayed mom as heartless. But she did it with the long-term implications in mind. I do not harbor any resentment towards her.

You can never be sure how long any legal process can take. It depends on how fast your dad gets all your information ready, also it helps if you have a good lawyer. From what i can see. I feel like you should have no problem getting your citizenship. Since, your father and mother both have legal rights to be in The United States. Pray and have faith. One more thing. I'm not sure but, you might need both your parents for this process. If your under 18.

hey thanks so much for responding. i am underage and my dad did turn in all of the papers on time and we have paid the fee so everythings all set. I was just wondering if anyone who is well-learned about the subject could give me a rough timetable. I received the notice of action on December 31st, 2009 and can anyone tell me around what time I will become a resident? I just need something to hold onto. Thank you guys.
