Looks like another year will pass..
No Dream act, no CIR
Will you keep on hoping for a miracle? Or do something about your situation? What I am trying to say is will you keep on worrying about things that you cannot control? |
Re: Looks like another year will pass..
Umm.... yes! Because it's a big deal!

Re: Looks like another year will pass..
Heh, there seems to be less posting lately. Seems everyone is depressed. >.<
Anyhow, to the topic... No, I will not hope for a miracle. Enough with horse playings by politicians and their sweet talks. I am gonna wait till the end of this year. That's it. Actually at the earliest, I plan around early October. But absolutely no later than January of 2011. Meanwhile I am gonna search what I can do in my native country and find the requirements to get into the colleges there or find any opportunities that I can look to move to different countries like Australia, NZ, UK, Japan, France etc... Right now, I need 2 more years to get BS a degree. But it costs so much for me to pay. I can barely manage rents and living expenses here. Hardly any savings! Anyway, if you can manage to endure longer, don't lose your hope and keep fighting for it. But everyone's situation is different. Not every DREAMers has stable job or have someone able to help. And you are right. Things like this, we can't control. Just like we can't grow taller after 25, or age younger every year, things like this really depends on the Congress and the Senate. Not us. Sure we can persuade and beg them to support us but if they ignore or refuse, what can you do? Originally I planned to leave this month (when back in 2009, I had even little hope that it might pass Feb 2010). But I am not prepared to go back yet. Also I need to polish my native language. Been long I haven't used my native language. Well, to view our life optimisitic, the world is big. Look at a map. Even without the US, there are so many places I can travel and maybe dream about settling there if I like. I have not been able to travel to different countries ever since I set my feet on the US. I know 4 languages and am currently learning 5th language. I couldn't use my language skills outside this territory. (Fortunately this country has diverse people that I could make friends from different nationalities easily.) Well this is just me. Not encouraging anyone to do same, of course. If you have time and patience to wait for God who knows when, and are not afraid of living undocumented, fight for your dream. Trust me... there will be another surprise news around the time I plan to leave, I know will encounter bunch of news articles like "Immigration reform will likely to pass!", just to find same old disappointments. What makes you think Dream Act has 9 years of history? I am not gonna fall for the same mistakes. So I pretty much made my decisions. And I learned how valuable the citizenship is. People who never lived in different countries will take their citizenship for granted. While I am there I make best use of it and I will prepare and search much thoroughly before immigrating to different countries. I hate to blame my parents like this but gotta admit that they really did not prepare well before coming here or they just got lucky or both. |
Re: Looks like another year will pass..
Best way to go about it is to keep your head up and try to wait if waiting becomes hard then prepare for plan b. It will be very hard if a lot of us are dead set on staying then something unfortunate happens and were shell shocked when we hit our home countries so always be ready for everything.

Re: Looks like another year will pass..
I think the miracle is that most of us have some form of college degree & have endured so much as it is.Focusing so much on what has gone wrong doesn't really give us the time on what has been done right so far & to build upon it.
If status is the limiting factor in anything & Congress is at the heart of that, then the only thing one can do is find an alternate plan either by looking at current laws OR immigrating elsewhere. You can only be young once & even though we have a great respect for a certain country, time waits for no one. |

We have another big march on April 10th. |
Re: Looks like another year will pass..
It also looks like Dems will take majority in the Congress so if nothing passes this year, we can probably expect to see CIR/Dream Act first thing next year.
