Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-NY, and Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-SC, are believed to be on the cusp of introducing a new bill in the Senate on Comprehensive immigration reform.

The Schumer/Graham initiative combines enforcement with earned legal status for immigrants who are out of status or came in illegally.

Washington sources say they are ready to introduce the bill "any day now."

God knows the Irish could catch a break on this issue.

The intense lobbying efforts in 2006 and 2007 were successful in changing more than a few Senators' minds but between the Presidential election and the economic collapse, immigration has been pushed off the front page.

However, a Senate move on this issue could see immigration reform becoming a possibility again.

Business owners are also starting to make their voice heard on this issue. President Barack Obama's home state of Illinois this week launched the Illinois Business Immigration Coalition which wants to highlight how immigrants can benefit the U.S. economy.

"Sound immigration policy is critical to the health of this economy and our industry," said Sheila O'Grady, president of the Illinois Restaurant Association

Maybe we can get more Republican support on the Dream Act if not the CIR.
