It will take at least 2 years for us to apply for ANY form of legal status under that bill. I don't see how that helps our current situation.

Garbage bill IMO.

I seriously believe after Climate is debated, Graham will come back "crying" to support CIR.

I'm sorry but did I miss something? Where does it say that it would take two years for us to apply?

It would take 8 years for you to get Permanent Residency, after having temporary status that would allow you to work and travel. The bill will be a good one in my estimation.

I was just going to ask the same thing. Unless he was being sarcastic about the time it would take to "secure the border"...haha bc if he was, i totally missed it.

Anyway, considering that DA is included in the blueprint (and if it does pass), wouldn't that mean that beneficiaries of DA would have a 2year jump start on applying for LPR (bc its only 6years temporary residency for DA)? Either way, letting me work legitimately and travel would be AWESOME!

Me, too. I don't care if it takes 8 or 10, 15 years... as long as I can work and travel abroad I'm fine with it!

It's good overall..

Quote:

Spouses and minor children living abroad will be eligible for legalization, once their resident relative obtains LPI status.
I wish it would apply to adult children as well. And I wonder if it includes those with VD/deportations.

Quote:

The proposal will also address several remaining technical issues that prevent widows and orphans of U.S. citizens from obtaining immigration benefits. It will eliminate discrimination in the immigration laws by permitting permanent partners of United States citizens and lawful permanent residents to obtain lawful permanent resident status.
This is awesome. :D:D

There is nothing about any changes made to family petitions, waivers filed abroad, or on how to prevent backlog .

So it would probably take 8yrs(LPI)+5(LPR)=13 years to be eligible for citizenship from the time that one becomes an LPI. Eh, it's better than nothing.

:)
