asian, bodybuilder, and undocumented....im from SoCAL anaheim :)

well, yeah I'm new here and here's my story,

Im Ron and I was born in Philippines, I'm taiwanese, chimese, and part filipino, i came here when i was 11 and im now 17 turning 18 11/13/2010 im a junior in hs and im about to graduate next year 2011. overstayed my visa i didnt know about my status until 2 years ago. the pressure is kinda building up very bad now, drivers license, job, etc. im really concerned that im falling into major depression, ive been up most nights now, and ive been having suicide thoughts lately... :( I speak near perfect english, because i went to "american" christian school all my life back in Philippines, my family is fortunately very financially capable, though its kinda starting to get strained a bit, and my physique that not many people question my status, because i don't really look like the typical stereotype of "illegal." i kinda really need to talk to someone pretty bad i don't know how i can express myself...

Hey Welcome to DAP!

It is hard to deal with depression... I know someone who is going through it possibly because of our situation.

I highly advice you to stay connected to the people you care about. Also... try to seek out professional help too if you can. I think Dreamactivist.org has some links for counseling services. Check it out when you can.

Welcome to DAP man

I have a similar background as you. I came here from the Philippines about 8 years ago. We were pretty well-off there, but the family business tanked. My parents needed a fresh start, so we packed out bags and flew across the world. We overstayed our visa, because the guy fixing our papers turned out to be a fraud.

I remember all the lies I had to tell my friends about why I don't have my license. I'm pretty sure we've all been there, so you are not alone. It gets easier as you get older, as people just stop asking questions. It gets even easier if you decide to tell close friends you can trust.

All my friends know about my situation, and they do what they can to help me. They understand that I can't drive, so they pick me up and drop me off. They know I don't have a license, so they understand when I use my passport for identification.

I have a girlfriend of over 2 years, so it is possible to find someone special in our situation. She's a USC and knows about my status. She doesn't judge me or look down on me because of it. We're just your average couple.

The main thing is, you don't have to go through this life alone. Contrary to the belief of some paranoid members, there are some people out there that you can trust. Knowing that you have someone to turn to makes life a lot easier. Don't give up by thinking about suicide, it's the cowardly way out. You're still young, and you have your college years and your whole life ahead of you. When the time comes for CIR or the DREAM Act, you'll be able to look back and know that you survived the struggle.

yeah i know suicide is a very cowardly act, but sometimes (atleast once a week lateley) the thought is becoming too tempting, because it just hurts too much, not the nomal pain but it feels idk its hard to explain.

I can definitely relate to you, but unfortunately I can't say it will get easier. A friend of mine told me not to focus on it to much, sometimes we just keep thinking and thinking that we go crazy. This advice has gotten me though a lot of hard times, but I know that it's not so easy especially if your still in high school. You can't go out with your friends cause you have to be low key, you can't drive cause you don't know how and you can't anyway! And relationships... how will you pay for your date? :( maybe i'm making you feel 10x worse than you started off, but let me just say your problem won't go away if you kill yourself and your life won't get better just by sulking. So keep a positive attitude and do your best to get by. Your not alone and if you ever need someone to talk to I'd be happy to lead you my ear.

lololol yea my lovelife is starting to go down the drain exactly because of those 2 reasons... yea my life right now is pretty much how u explained it haha. lol thx for the non motivating statements there, im 20x worse now.... hahahaha jk though ill try to keep positive, i dunno how im gonna cope with this when i graduate next year tho....
