AZ wants to end birthright citizenship

"The author of Arizona's immigration law, state Sen. Russell Pearce, told constituents he wants to pass another measure to invalidate citizenship granted to the children of illegal aliens.

Pearce wrote that he plans to "push for an Arizona bill that would refuse to accept or issue a birth certificate that recognizes citizenship to those born to illegal aliens, unless one parent is a citizen," in an email obtained by Phoenix CBS affiliate KPHO.

Pearce also forwarded an email from another correspondent expanding on the proposal — which he later told KPHO he didn't agree with. "If we are going to have an effect on the anchor baby racket, we need to target the mother. Call it sexist, but that's the way nature made it. Men don't drop anchor babies, illegal alien mothers do," the email said.

Pearce did tell the CBS affiliate, however, that he didn't see anything wrong with using the term "anchor baby" to refer to natural-born U.S. citizens.

Last year, 92 Congressmen sponsored a bill that would change the 14th Amendment so that children of illegal aliens born in the United States would not be granted citizenship. The bill is still in committee.

Last month, Rep. Duncan Hunter of California told a tea party rally he would support deporting children of illegal aliens, even if they are citizens.

"And we're not being mean. We're just saying it takes more than walking across the border to become an American citizen," he said. "It's what's in our souls."

His spokesman later sought to clarify the remarks with the Associated Press, saying that Duncan believes that "U.S.-born children of illegal immigrants should stay with their parents unless there is a legal guardian who could take care of them.""

Wow..This is just getting out of hand. Can't believe how one can have so much hatred towards other human beings. This is yet another reason why its so urgent to enact reform on the federal level.

They seriously cannot do that. Can they?

If somebody is born in the United States, how can they not be a citizen from here?

From where would they be citizens? If the parents are Mexican, would Mexico say the child is a Mexican citizen? How is that possible?

What a scumbag this idiot is! So I guess he chose to be an American citizen, and while in the womb he fought hard to come in here the right way.

Give me a break. This is bull!

Well according to the 14th amendment they cannot do that furthermore more federal law will topple state law so it would be extremely unconstitutional. Aside from that if your parents are from Mexico and you go to Mexico you are automatically a Mexican citizen.

They can't they would either have to get rid of 14th amendment (which wont happen mainly b/c it requires 2/3s of both houses and 3/4 of all states) or have the 100% pro immigrant supreme court rule that 14th amendement doesnt apply to children of undocumented immigrants

Also supreme court ruled some time ago that legislature has no right to remove anyone's citizenship, and state govts have no power whatsoever when it comes to citizenship stuff, if this shit keeps up I can't wait to see the army pointing guns in direction of arizona. .

Being born in USA is automatic citizenship. That goes for any country in the world doesn't it?

Why does it matter who gave her/him birth?

I'm sure most countries have that law...but we can't be confident that thats the case in every country. There's different laws everywhere.

I have lot of respect for folks who actually earned their citizenship through education and work experience then someone who was given as a gift.
