America's Voice to President Obama and Congress: Pass the DREAM Act this Summer

President Obama just finished giving an important speech on immigration reform, and I've already been asked: "What now?"

The President's speech brings much welcome attention to the immigration crisis in America. Arizona's radical "show me your papers" law is the result of one thing: a lack of national leadership in Washington to truly fix our dysfunctional system.

Comprehensive immigration reform is the only way to change this, but it's stalled. I wish it weren't, but it is. That doesn't mean we have to sit around and wait! There are important, targeted measures like the DREAM Act - stepping-stones to broader reform - that we can pass right away.

Watch the video I just recorded about President Obama's speech. Then sign our petition to President Obama and Congress, urging them to pass the DREAM Act this summer:

^^
I wondered about that too, but the problem is how are we going to pay them back if we can't have jobs after graduation. Might be something to look over when applying.

I have an important question too! Say you fart and burp at the same time, is it true that your eye balls would pop out?

How is a loan a scholarship?

It isnt...just a loan. It just happened to be in the "scholarship" list.

Seems the biggest obstacle facing the dream act right now would be the congressional Hispanic caucus.

Quote:

Given the opposition to any plan to legalize illegal immigrants, some lawmakers have suggested Congress should move forward with the individual provisions separately. But Obama indicated Thursday that he is intent on moving forward with a multifaceted bill.
Baca praised his commitment.
"We need comprehensive immigration (reform). You can't just deal with one aspect( haven't they been dealing with enforcement measure all this while? you gotta love the hypocrisy)," he said, maintaining the push to pass the bill this year is still alive. "Nothing's ever dead."

He is not the only member to come out recently against passing the dream act separately.
