Question about leaving
I will be leaving the country in September/October for good. My native country is Poland, but I will be flying to the UK. Should I expect any problems at the airport? Obviously I am undocumented.

I dont think so.
Good luck in Europe!! |
Re: Question about leaving
Why can't you stay and wait for the dream act?
PS- Is your passport expired? If it is, you should be able to renew it without any problems at the Polish embassy. But please confirm before trying. Aside from that, I don't know what else could cause you problems. |

My passport is valid until 2014, I got it here in 2004. I dont even know what the status of the dream act is anymore, Ive stopped caring after having my soul crushed over and over again 4-3-2 years ago. Think it was like 3 times in 1 year 3 years ago where something couldve happend but dream act didnt pass when it was voted on. Also, ive been in a long distance relationship with my g/f for 2 years now, she lives in the uk and shes been amazing and understanding and visited me a few times so we could be together and now I just dont wana be apart form her anymore. I also just wana be free, I feel like im living in a prison and cant do it anymore. Im dropping out of college, but its aight because I have my own thing going on that brings me money and I can do online anywhere. Plus, I just cant live in a country that doesnt want me here anymore, where I feel like a criminal, at least in the UK, Ill be allowed to stay cuz im part of the EU. Not to mention they have really cool accents xD. I guess I am asking because I am afraid they might detain me or something? Or will they just be happy im leaving? |
Re: Question about leaving
mac900, I'm sad that you're leaving, but I'm happy that you are following your dreams. Best of luck to ya.
I don't know if you will be detained or not. Have you tried asking an immigration lawyer? There are pro-bono or free consultation immigration lawyers that will be able to give you information for no cost if you call them. |
Re: Question about leaving
You won't be detained when leaving, outbound immigration is pretty much unrestricted unless you have a warrant for your arrest or something. There was actually another member here from Poland that also left the US sometime ago and went via the UK to Ireland without much issue.

Re: Question about leaving

Mod Edit: watch your language, |
Re: Question about leaving
Mac good luck in the EU. Make sure to log in once in a while and let us know how it's going and how ur adjusting to life in Europe.
I'm from the EU as well. I most likely will stick around until I finish my MSCS and if the DREAM/CIR issue is not resolved by then I'll be flying back to the EU. So I'm very interested in your opinion on the EU when you do make the move. |
