Now that the Republicans are in office, we have hope
 

Seeing the anti-immigrant sentiment among the Republican party's voting patterns made me want to take a closer look at what was going on. After all, the Republicans have not always been so blatantly anti-immigrant. When it comes to economic and religious issues they have been more supportive of minorities than democrats, whose support of immigrants are based more on social issues: diversity dogma, welfare addiction and inequality watching.

The current behavior of the Republican party I want to believe is not a blanket indictment against them. It's the hallmark of catering to a conservative base, who are only accepting of racial justice issues once economic stability and legal justice has been taken care of.

The Republican "No" is a tactic to hobble the party in power. Now that the dust has settled, we will see something different from the Republicans.

That, my friend, is very very high hopes.

Yes, the republican party has been pro-immigrant in the past, however, the new republicans getting elected are doing so while publicly announcing a very anti-immigrant stance and making that stance one of the primary topics in their campaigns. They risk appearing as flip-floppers if they change their stance while they are serving in their positions.

The BP disaster is such an example. All of a sudden those that had at some point supported more off-shore drilling in the gulf where getting hit back by their own statements, specially if they recently changed their stance regarding off-shore drilling this election. When they change their stance on anything they risk appearing as flip-floppers and that can be used to really hurt any statements that they make during an election, its costs people their elections and its a disincentive to choosing what they may think is right when the issue surfaces.
