What do you think about the word Amnesty ?

why is many people calling the dream act blanket amnesty or amnesty. How is it amnesty to begin with since we have to work hard and meet those requirements which are pretty strict. I bet many people who are legal could not meet those requirements because they have broken some part of the bill. Why are they saying that this will produce chain migration and that it will reward lawbreakers. Why Is this all considered AMNESTY When it clearly IS NOT. IT IS NOT A GUARANTEED WAY To Citizenship in the First place. I do not know why Freaking Jeff Sesssions R- Alabama says it is A GUARANTEED Way for Citizenship when it is not. Sorry to repeat myself but I dont like that guy

Jeff Sessions is just a racists.

Either way, its their way of trying to inject fear into this piece of legislation. Are they right, no, but people that don't know much about immigration might believe them and support them. That is the problem.

What pisses me off is how they keep on citing chain migration, and that we would be able to bring up to 179 family members, as if I had that many family members. Besides, what they are ignoring is who would be considered an immediate family member and whether they would have to leave and serve a 10 year ban.

Basically, you can pretty much cross out children of dreamers because we all came here before the age of 16, how many dreamers will have children born in a foreign country...

Parents... well... at most there will be two, chances are that they are in this country and if they are EWI will have to serve a mandatory 10 year ban in order to adjust their status as they would have to leave the country

Spouses.... one, polygamists are not able to apply for the DREAM Act, that is one of the factors that would make dreamers ineligible actually specifically referred in the DREAM Act bill.

Anyone else, the process right now for a USC to claim a non-immediate family member can be as long as 20-25 years. Besides, we have been here since we were minors, a lot of us have barely any ties to our country of origin except being born there, if we have family we may have heard them over the phone or heard their names being mentioned, but other then that they are complete strangers unless they were able to visit, which is a privilege a lucky few can afford.

Its only Amnesty if you don't have to earn it like paying fines, doing stuff thats in the bill to qualify.

am·nes·ty
–noun
1.
a general pardon for offenses, esp. political offenses, against a government, often granted before any trial or conviction.
2.
Law . an act of forgiveness for past offenses, esp. to a class of persons as a whole.
3.
a forgetting or overlooking of any past offense.

My problem with the word amnesty is the fact that I did not commit a crime/offense. There is nothing to be forgiven. I am not a criminal.
