Visiting a military post
My friend is staying at a military base near where I live. he asked me to visit him and I was wondering if this is even possible given my situation. I have a valid government issued ID, is this enough to get me through the gates if he's my escort?

make sure he drives you in there. if you're caught driving without a license in there then you're screwed big time.. sometime they'll check id if it's %100 id check.. bring it with you

Re: Visiting a military post
If your friend can pick you up and drive you through the gate, you most likely won't need an ID. Although, most bases do 100% ID check of everyone in the vehicle after like 10pm.
My family and I went to Lackland AFB for my husband's basic training graduation and had no problems. We all used our Mexican passports (my dad had his DL but only had the temp piece of paper at the time we went). Don't worry about it. They don't have time to check everyone's status that comes in the gates. They'll just glance at your ID and let you through. Just make sure you don't do anything stupid while on base, and you'll be fine. |
Re: Visiting a military post
Holy dicks, no that's a bad idea. My sister is a USC and is in the military. I tried to go to the PX with her to get some groceries one time. Got stopped at the gate, the person asked to see my ID -- I didn't have anything, so she (the guard at the gate) detained me. My sister got questioned, it came out that I was a foreign national, and a border patrol guy got summoned. He yelled at me and her for being dumbasses and said to get the hell out of his face before he arrested me and had me deported.
