Re: age

Turned 30 two weeks before the House passed DREAM with the 29 year age cap, imagine how I felt, but I'm full hope, I actually have more hope than ever before, not for DREAM specifically, but I have two more options. I can apply for Family Unity benefits or I can join the military, yes you read right, for all of those here that don't believe you can become a USC by joining the military just do some research online or on this forum. It is possible and it is not a long wait, you can apply on the first day of active duty and it takes around six months to get citizenship. This is not something illegal, but it is not that easy to achieve either. First you need to find a recruiter who has the guts to let you enlist while being undocumented, even though current law does allow illegal aliens to enlist, not all recruiters want to do it. And secondly, you run the risk of USCIS not granting you US citizenship.

I thought you had to be at least a resident to join the army.

Re: age

no.... I am pretty sure you have to be a permanent resident to join, this is the first time I have ever heard of even a hint of a possibility to join the military as undocumented and get any kind of benefit from it as far as one's status of undocumented.

While it is true to adjust your status to USC faster through the military then any other scenario, and that one may adjust to USC status in a matter of months instead of years, we are undocumented and this can't benefit from this, as far as my research.

NumberUSA "quotes" a portion of a bill relating to this, and someone quoted that in the comments section of the paper, so I decided to research it to the law itself to see if it was true, one portion was completely taken out of context, did not exists the way they quoted the section, the other specifically gave the right to legalize the status but not of undocumented immigration but permanent residents.
