College Questions

Hey guys I recently tried to fill out a college application in oklahoma and have a few questions. As I started to fill it out I got to the social security section. I Left it box blank and it then told me to give either a social security number or my tax identification. Anyone else have this happend? And should I put my tax Id number without having problems? My other question what I put on my status. It gives me none, non-resident,resident, or that I student authorization. I was wondering if this will affect if I get in state tution. My last question is if anyone has Attended colleges in Oklahoma and give some schools to apply and much needed advice. Thank you

if it says to put in your Tax ID number, you may do so, if it did not I would have suggested that you call the university and inquire. I would still say that you should call the university and inquire if there is any specific process that you should follow considering your status.

I would be very careful with what kind of assistance that you get, if you get any kind of assistance that is funded by the government it could have a detrimental effect on you as it may be considered fraud, whether you were aware of the fact or even if someone decided they wanted to help you in the office by setting up a favorable condition for you to get the scholarship without your knowledge. If you get assistance research that you do meet the minimum requirements.

good luck

Yea it says to put my SSN/Tax number. I'm plan on paying for tuition with the help of my parents. I'm not going to ask for any financial help. Don't want to get in any problems. Thx for the advice

You'll get through college. Cheers.

I would not say it is impossible to get any kind of financial help, in particular merit based scholarships, but you have to be very certain that what they give you is indeed something that you may accept, that it is not coming from tax sources but rather private funds and private individuals.

And adding on to what Boulevard mentioned, you are going to get into college, its not a question of your status, at least not for the majority of schools out there, its a rather tiny portion of schools that have taken the wrong direction, and for the most part they are public schools that have to abide by the laws of the state that funds them and are forced to take that direction. Trust me when I say this but there is growing assistance within the university system for dreamers and I personally know that there are some schools that are coming forward with additional resources targeting specifically dreamers.
