AB 131: Good news only for recent undocumented high school graduates.

I checked the Cal Grants website, and AB 131 will not help me in any shape or form.

Four words: gives us work permits. Damn it!

only the Federal GOVT. can give us work permits. (I could really use this bill)

I graduated in 2008. I only been taking 6-9 credits per semester due to increasing tuition cost. With this bill i can take a full schedule and be able to afford the books.

I see. The thing that really angers me is the "recent" high school graduate requirement. I hope you are eligible because I went through hell, fire, and brimstone to reach my senior year; I graduate next semester.

This is where I was confused in terms of work permits. Utah actually "ratified" a bill, but requires approval by the federal government:

That would be interesting, but I honestly doubt the Federal government would allow it to slide, simply because it raises the very real and dangerous possibility of states actually having their own immigration laws.
