Some questions, help needed :(

Good afternoon everybody,

I am another dreamer new to the forms. I was hoping someone might have some useful information and could help me out.

First i came to the country at age 4 under a tourist visa and overstayed. (not sure what kind of visa this is?)

I'm currently finishing up my bachelors and would like to find a job if possible. Is it possible for a company to sponsor someone with my status? I currently intern and they are not aware of my status but im pretty sure they will be offering me a full time position soon.

I have also been reading about ITIN numbers, anyone know how useful they are and whats the process to apply for one?

Thanks a lot for your time!

any info is helpful

Hey, Most of us here are on the same boat. It's a temporary visitor visa of about 5 years. We're suppose to leave within 6 months but all have overstayed. I'm sorry to tell you that we can not get any jobs in this country. But that doesn't mean you can't work as a subcontracter in some places or off the books. Unfortunately, your options will be limited and you might not be able to find something in your field. It's not impossible though. What do you study and what degree will you be receiving? Also, we are not eligible to be sponsored by any company. This sponsorship deal only applies to international students with the student visas. Applying for ITIN is pretty straight forward I would think. The only purpose of ITIN is so that you can file taxes. Also, it would be required if you want to open a bank account and some companies also issue credit cards. That's where it ends. You can't use it to get a job. Keep in mind that if there ever is a legalization bill, it would require you to pay back taxes so its a good idea to get an ITIN and start paying taxes. Check this link out:

First of all thanks for all the information, highly appreciated.

What exactly does a subcontractor mean? My field of studies is Finance.

Do you know what the visa is labeled under? (b-1.. etc)
