Retail business PARTNERSHIP question

Fellas, I'm just wondering what the legal implications would be if I wanted to buy a retail business (Liquor) with another individual. That individual is legal and the store would be started from scratch, brand new. I just have a few questions. How can he make me legally a partner? Is an ITIN sufficient or what other documents would I need? Please add anything else I need to know. I have decided that it does not hurt to look at other options in terms of careers at this stage. If this means we gotta strangle our original dream, then so be it. Thanks.

That or, your SS and some kind of photo identification. My parents own a business both are here illegally and they were able to register it without a problem, however its not a liquor business but a painting one but I don't think that it should have a Great Impact.... we live in CT as well.

I'm in a partnership and I haven't had any problems. As far as the federal government is concern as long as you fill the right tax forms and create a partnership agreement you should be good. Now you state government may have different rules. Try to find a non profit that helps small business to advice you. What state are you in?

P.S. Is my believe that every dreamer should create their own business and become self reliant. Let's show all the talent we say we have and show those people what we can do.

Re: Retail business PARTNERSHIP question

Well here in Texas when it comes to liquor license all partners need to have a legal status. Unless u want to be a silent partner and operate under the table. I doubt u want to do that...b/c most of the times when the business prospers someone will try to get the best out of your status. Best advice contact a company that handles permits, etc for business (liquor stores, c-stores, etc) and just ask them the requirement.
