Obama’s broken immigration promise

Quote:

The Obama administration claims that it is deporting record numbers of illegal immigrants while focusing on those with criminal records. But new data from Immigration and Customs Enforcement shows that the number of deportation orders has declined dramatically since last summer and non-criminals comprise a growing percentage of those expelled from the country.
That wasn’t supposed to happen under a policy of “prosecutorial discretion” announced by ICE director John Morton last June. The goal of the policy, announced with much fanfare in the Spanish language media, was to spare “longtime lawful residents” from deportation and to focus on criminals.
Since then, the adminstration has deported many fewer non-criminal aliens. But non-criminals remain the vast majority of those deported. And those with no criminal record now actually comprise a slightly larger percentage of those forced to leave the country than they did before Morton’s announcement.

I don't really care about the numbers anymore. I mean this is not about Dream Act. If they deport more people will make the Americans happier, called me selfish or not, numbers are useless. Do some shit. Pass the DA, and make everyone happy. Better yet: if you dont want any fucking amnesty anymore, let all states sign the amendment saying congress cannot provide amnesty of any sort unless we have more than half of the states approve it. I am pretty sure no one will object to it.

It's a bit ironic that now the Republicans are telling immigrants voters that "Obama broke his promise to you". I don't think the immigrant community is that stupid.

Obama has done his share of securing the border and removing, for the most part, dangerous and violent criminals that shouldn't be here in the first place.

Now the Republicans will use his accomplishments against him.

Pathetic!

If any of you ever become Republicans, I will spit on your face! Republicans are the real enemy.

The Republican Party has gone wacko! Forever and ever lost.

Now, let's reelect Obama and take back the House! :D

You know, the Jews have the slogan of "never again". Immigrants who have suffered because of Republicans' indifference to their pains should not forget that either. I'm sure some will say "I came here the right way", but they forget that they were able to come here the right way, because another immigrant paved the way for them - whether it was their father who came here and got amnesty in 1986, or the uncle who came here in the 70's and got "married"....or otherwise. Even many of those who came here perfectly legally have family members they can't see and most of it is because of the Republicans' opposition to legal immigration so there is no way anybody can convince me that Republicans are immigrants' friends.
