College/Military

Did anyone have any problems with the two-year college or military part of the original Dream Act?

I always thought that people didn't agree with that, and I really didn't either. I guess, if I wanted to show them that I was really serious and if I need to prove myself to them, I would want to complete the whole four years of college, no matter what. I would agree with the critics who said that was too easy.

I don't know, but now that I look back, any small little thing could have gathered an extra 5 votes.

Just a thought.

I agree, the requirements should be a four year degree or four years in the military.

The military doesn't even let you off until four years.

I don't think anyone had a problem with that. That rushed DA bill of lame duck in 2010 would have left out thousands of Dreamers. It also had a direct path to USC so GOP rejected it and lot of the Dems rejected it because the age was cut to 30 and no Retroactive.

Lol that 2 year thing in the military is a joke. When you sign up in the military, it's a 8-year contract. However, the minimum time spent on active duty is 2 years, and the rest can be in active/reserves (althought they can call you up if needed in times like these).

As for the 2 years in college, that is complete BS. Most of the times, you will not land a job with an AA degree. As far as i know, all of us are motivated to complete at least a Bachelor's degree. So why the fck cant they set the requirements to at least 4 years of college? If it musters up even just a couple more votes, it's worth it and it's stupid to not put it in.

You could land a job with a HS Diploma. The question if you like the 4 year requirements then you should support the Retroactive Provisions also.

For all those people who think it's easy to obtain a BA degree. Well, it's easy for you to say when you have access to in-state tuition and live in a immigrant friendly state or city. I used to think that every dreamers should just get a BA degree, but I'm almost done with my community college and I don't think I'm able to afford a 4 year university. If the requirement is changed to a BA degree for Dream Act, I think the bill should provide a reasonable period of time limit.

For the military I think it means 2 years active duty, and the other 2 would be reserve.
