scholarships
 

Hello Dream Activists,
I am currently a junior in high school and will be starting my senior year in the fall. Now is the time to start looking for scholarships and I was wondering if anyone knew about any scholarships that are open to undocumented students that do not require the applicant to be Hispanic/Latino. Any help or advice about applying to colleges and financial aid as an International student is also welcome.Thank you so much for your help and time.

It all depends on where you are. Also, what schools are you applying to? certain private schools will give you help.

Dude,

If I were you, I would see if I could leave the US and return with legal status by enlisting in the military. If you could get legal status by enlisting in the military, you could do college after service.

I so regret that I did not bother to research that option before 18.

How would you enlist outside of the states? I wish I had know about that too. You should make a thread and hopefully a sticky about what you know for other dreamers under 18.

You can do that? wont you be some sort of missionary? This reminds me of the independence wars of South America when the revel armies would hire British soldiers to fight against the Spanish forces.

To enlist in the military, you would need to be a legal resident in the US. They will never assist in legalizing you, and you cannot "apply" if you aren't a legal resident. Do you mean enlisting in the military in your own country? I don't see how that would help in coming to the US afterwards and legalizing.

By the way, i am sure that most of our parents aren't going to let you just simply leave this country for this "foolish" and radical idea that you are going to propose to them.

I hate to say this, but if such a proposition is possible, and the kid wants to go for it, then why should the parent stop him/her? It was due to their "foolish and radical idea" to immigrate illegally that caused such a chain reaction.

For DREAMERs under 18, they should apply for school, and then LEAVE the country. Upon acceptance into a university, they should then seek a student visa with proof of acceptance into a US college. If they get rejected, they can always reapply with no bar.

I guess so, but the proposition is not possible as far as i know. However, the parents will always be worrying for their children and they will want to know if it is absolutely possible and not just some crazy idea their kid read up somewhere.
