Why doesn't Obama order EO??
 

As you guys know, Rubio cannot be trusted too much.

So, we have to put pressure on Obama for EO...

However, let's not forget that he sort of hid how much he can do w/ EO. I do not know if it's just me, but I did not know that he can use Executive Order to do what Rubio's bill is aiming for.

But why isn't he using EO? I think it's either 1. his administration is dumb, or 2. he just doesn't care about us, or 3. he's even more evil than Republicans that he try to manipulate Hispanic voters.

Rather than losing votes because of immigration, I feel like he will be losing vote for doing nothing significant. If he had done something significant enough to stop our economies from sinking down to the toilet, he wouldn't have to be worried.

If he's worried that he's gonna lose votes from assigning EO, I think that his administration is not good at strategies. By having his immigration stands vague, his votes from pro-immigrants are in limbo. Unfortunately, he should realize that many of USC that supports immigration or DA are either a naturalized citizen, or who's somewhat familiar in the immigration system. So, he should realize that BSing or making an excuse does not work on them or us. In addition, if he actually cares about his party, he better know that we will be loyal for life time when we become naturalized.

To me, assigning EO won't affect his votes. I'm sure Republicans will use it against it in the public. However, the majority of people who's anti-immigrants all votes for Republican candidate anyway. Also, immigration issue isn't black or white matter. There are many people who don't care whether he supports DA or not. Let's face it, to Americans, immigration isn't the biggest factor. Not every American is overly patriotic that they want to keep USA all-caucasion country. Besides, he's pretty much determined to get all the votes from states with large amount of electoral votes, such as CA, NY, and many other states with over 10 votes.

If I can only talk to him face to face, I would love to scold him!!!

Because he wants to use Dream Act as for his party's vote.

They will play political football with our lives.

I remember what my Microeconomic professor said to our class. "There is a purpose/goal behind any decision you make" Either money/power or anything. It can be either personal goal or goal as a group.

1. it would be political suicide to EO before election. (if they can make a big deal about a fake story on where he was born, what do you think theyll do once he EOs' millions of "amnesties" without congress approval?)

2. congress is republican and when a pres EOs' they can veto it by winning 60%(could be wrong but i think its 60)

3. if he actually wanted to see it pass he would have united the Dems on the 2010 vote of the DA and not let it fail bc of 5 democrats who voted nay.

Rubio is setting Obama up for a crash and burn, trust me his bill will be more reasonable than that stupid Stars act, And honestly this is the first time that Fox News has taken a liking to the idea of the Dream Act an EO could potentially spurn away Republicans who are taking on this issue.


Let Rubio shoot himself in the foot before even thinking of signing the EO.

Great point Dukem88, maybe he secretly wanted it to fail in 2010 so that he could use it in getting a majority of the Hispanic vote in 2012. Unfortunately for him, people may end up not turning up at the polls in November to support him, they may just pay him lip service as he's been doing regarding the Dream Act.

He wants the DA to pass from Congress. He can't EO right now. It will jeopardize his job and re-election.

I think he will do it after he is elected if DA has not passed then.

DHS can also put some rule.

Wait a second....so congress can VETO the EO?

Would it take the senate or the house to veto the EO? or both? By how many votes?

This worries me if we lose more seats in the senate.... I think we'll be losing 3 seats in the senate and if the economy keeps tanking we may lose more seats in the house.... This sucks!!

I did some research and it looks like it's almost impossible to veto an Executive Order:

"a 2/3 majority if often required to override an Executive Order"

That means that the senate needs 67 votes to veto and the house needs 290....very unlikely either chambers can do #$#% to an EO.

I guess I can go back to crossing my fingers....

Exactly! This is what everyone here should know before screaming "EO! EO you bum!" I also agree with 2 and 3.

You all also know that Obama is the lesser of the two evils on immigration. Even though he has continuously failed to do anything, no pro-immigrant Latino with a brain would choose Romney over him.
