Green Card Approved

Today i had my green card interview with my husband at the chula vista office in San diego. After 2.5 years, my petition is finally approved and i'll be getting the 10 year green card. I know it seems like a long time but it was deny at first because of an old asylum case i never knew about then my hubby was deployed which mean they had to put it on hold.. The interview lasted 10 minutes.. I came here with a B2 visa when i was little and overstayed. The officer only asked me about my name, birth certificate, marriage license, address, if i've ever met my husband's family, and the questions on the I-485. I was nervous for no reason. My amazing lawyer is Lizz Cannon..

Are all GC 10 year? So you can become a USC in 3 years right? What if you always decide to stay a GC holder? You would have to renew? 2.5 years is very short. That is fast.

Some people wait 20+ years.

Those are all the questions they asked you? So they just read the questions on the I-485 verbatim and you answer them just like you did on the application?

Congratulations.

if you are married over 2 years then you get a 10 year GC.. yes USC in 3 years and if decide to remain a GC holder then i would have to pay the fee before it expires.. To be honest i think 2.5 is a long time and it was stressful especially since i was constantly flying from HI to Hartford for court dates which is expensive.. But i am grateful!! Yeah she only asked me a few question from the I-485, are you a terrorist, have you ever smuggled anyone into this country, have you ever used food stamp etc..

Thank you guys and i wish all of you the best in life!! God bless

The GC renewal is guaranteed? What happens if it expires and you don't pay?
Trust me, 2.5 years is not a long time compare to what others have to wait especially for people who are aged out.

Court dates for what?

So they ask random questions from the I-485?

hmm that's a really good question but there is a form if you want to abandon your GC. the renewal fee is around $500 so it's not bad.. My dad applied for asylum and i was his dependent, i guess i was deported a long time ago and never knew about it.. I applied for I-485 without knowing, that got denied. That's why i was constantly in and out of court.... Thank you everyone.... I am for immigration reform and the Dream Act. Always will be no matter what
