PLEASE CLARIFY :( Question about False information on I-9
 

Could any of you immigration experts provide some clues as to what the penalties are for stating false information on this form. I know that claiming to be a citizen is bad and will get you in lots of trouble.

But what about using a made up social security no. or a fake name. I also know that using someone else's social is pretty bad. Can someone explain how this could be a problem for any immigration related topics. If you guys can cite it would be great.

The one that worries me is the fake name one... I think the fake ss will be fine. but Fuck I do not know why I listened to my parents... on that one. I knew this could come back to rape me.

From what I remember, if you marry a USC spouse falsely using SSN is excusable. Falsely claiming citizenship is not excusable (no waivers)

However, we're not marrying USC so they might be harder on us or be easier on us. No need to freak out. What's done is done is done.

The form you fill out when you get a job. It asks about immigration status and your right to work in the united states. You can say U.S citizen, or permanent resident etc... Basically anything that allows you to work.

Don't worry about it they won't go into all that there is millions of people doing this and thousands that did it and have adjusted status. Also an employed is required to keep I-9s for 5 years only.

For real, I know TWO people who got their papers after falsely claiming USC at their school and at work prior to getting married. They are good people, they're smart and graduated with STEM degrees and did well in the interview, they didn't seem a threat at all. Therefore, they probably didn't raise any flags. Now they've got their GC so don't believe that the USCIS know EVERYTHING. It's simply not true. Relax, why would you do yourself this sort of self stressing? Breathe in, breathe out.

You not be required to interview and they simply don't have enough time to go into all that. No worries you are not the first or last to do this.

Believe me. I am trying. I was thinking that maybe the rest of my record such as schooling etc.. would help me. I have stem degree and I am in grad school. Oh... this is such a pain. I just want to be in the interview and get it over with. If i get deported o well. I just need an answer.. :(
