Romney: I'll tackle immigration in 'civil' manner

Quote:

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla.—Backing off the harsh rhetoric of the Republican primaries, Mitt Romney pledged Thursday to address illegal immigration "in a civil but resolute manner." He outlined plans to overhaul the green card system for immigrants with families, and end immigration caps for their spouses and minor children.

In a speech before Hispanic leaders, Romney made only passing mention of his promise to complete a 2,000-mile border fence to help stem illegal immigration, instead attacking President Barack Obama's new plan to ease deportation rules for some children of illegal immigrants as little more than a "stop-gap measure."

"As President, I won't settle for a stop-gap measure. I will work with Republicans and Democrats to find a long-term solution," Romney told the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials. "I will prioritize measures that strengthen legal immigration and make it easier. And I will address the problem of illegal immigration in a civil but resolute manner. We may not always agree, but when I make a promise to you, I will keep it."

Bullshit. I don't trust this guy. He does not say anything specifically on how he plans to bring undocumented individuals out of the shadows. Obama needs to be re-elected. If Romney does propose some type of immigration reform, it will be an idea that will either require us to leave and apply from our home countries or join the military, which I am sure many of you dislike.

^ I don't trust him either. I just think it is good idea to know what he is going on the record saying.

The Republicans may have just lost the latino vote for the next two generations (undocs who have to put up with being considered unwanted and illegal and anchor babies that have to put up with being a terrorist in the making)

The only thing he promised was to be as vague as possible.

There are people who makes it happen and then there are people who just talk and speculate. Even though 31+ Dreamers did not qualify.

Obama and DHS made something happen on June 15th.

The quote you highlighted scares me. Hell, he can reform the system to exclude us and to make it easier for legal immigrants to come to the US. We might not like the idea. We might disagree with him. But, according to Romney, it will be reforming the system to increase legal immigration.

The fact that Romney does not have the courage to say what he will do to find permanent solution for the 11 to 12 undocumented individuals in the US really makes me distrust him.
