Birth Certificate Translation
 

I've been looking around for someone to translate my birth certificate and it is some what expensive I called the guy that does my mom's taxes and he charges $65 and then I found this web site http://www.foxtranslate.com/ that charges just $29 for each page. I was just wondering if you guys think that this would be a good place to get it done. Since both my sister and I need to do this and not much money to spend.

I would recommend doing some research around your area to see if any organizations will be helping DREAMers with their DACA process. They will most certainly be doing translations, or will recommend someone that can do them, at a reduced price.

I though about the website you mention, too, but I don't feel a 100% comfortable sending such personal information to a website.

I paid $130 to have it translate, certified, and notarized by the same company. It looks really professional, something a bilingual friend wouldn't be able to do.

Anyways, people here say you can do it your self, but i rather pay $$$ to have it professionally done.

It feels good to have it professionally done. Only people with no money will say i got ripped off, or that i payed too much.

Of course there are other ways. Someone you know that is fluent in both languages can translate it for you. That person will have to write a brief statement saying that he/she is proficient in both languages and the that translation is an accurate translation of the document to the best of his knowledge, he/she will then have to sign it, date it and put the his/her address. SIMPLE! I know people that have done it like that in the past without problems.

Thank you for the info. Does the person that does the translation NOT have to be related. Or could your sister or brother do it for you.

Going through other forums, such as immigrate2us.net, there are many cases in which people discuss that they translated the birth certificates themselves, and simply paid to have it notarized (~$10), and got approved with no problem. The majority of the cases have to do with adjustment of status via marriage (getting a green card).

Do some Googling, and you can find templates for a lot of places. You can use that template as base for your own birth certificate, and make changes accordingly. Only do this if you're good at spelling, and have someone who's a good writer review it all. If you're conscious that you're not a good writer and are prone to spelling mistakes, I would suggest not to do it yourself.

Then have it notarized.

You need to add something similar at the end of document (replacing the languages and titles accordingly):

I know txgirl, who works at lawyer's office, once said that she had templates for a variety of countries available to her, which she would send to us if requested, templates which cut down the workload.

My background is in languages and linguistics, and I would happily volunteer to review any Dreamer's translation upon request. Though this would require that you send a scan of the original birth certificate, and I'm not sure a Dreamer would feel comfortable sending such personal information to a stranger over the net.

Translator can you, a relative, a friend - anyone competent in both languages, and who certifies they are. This doesn't mention anything having it notarized either, though from what I read on other forums, most people do.
