Bank wants a ITIN

I opened a bank account with my consular id card 2 months ago without a social or ITIN but now the bank wants to put an ITIN on file. Can someone help me? How can I get a ITIN if I don't have steady work or employer?

Go to a tax preparer they will do that for you for 50 bucks, make sure to provide them with proper identification such as passport, ID's and all that shenanigans.

Good luck

Go to your bank and let them know what is going on(that you don't have one), they might not need an itin after all, unless you want to get one. Check with them first.

What bank do you have? I opened one in Chase, they asked me for SSN and ITIN which I didn't have, I asked if that would be a problem not having either of those. I only had a passport and college ID. They just told me its fine and just a different way of process. Process took 15 mins.

^ My mom did the same thing, but yesterday she received a letter in the mail from Chase saying she needs to apply for an ITIN. Weird. =/

I suggest getting an ITIN first and foremost, you'll be needing it once you get an EAD (I assume you applied already).

o.O We can get a social security card/number with the EAD.
