Biometrics Problem
 

So, I got my biometrics letter on Saturday and it just so happened to be scheduled on the worst possible day and time for me. A test day. So, it is on 9/17 at 1:00pm which will be around the time I will be finishing my test. I know I could reschedule, but my schedule is just going to get worse as the semester goes on with tests and clinicals(nursing school) and chances are it will be scheduled on another inconvenient day. With the appointment I have I will be able to make it, but I will be around 30 minutes late; arrive at 1:30 instead of 1:00.

My question is will this be bad? Arriving 30 minutes late? I already called the National number and they said if I come late they will still be able to process me as long as it isn't too busy. They said I should call the local service center number and tell them I will be late so they will know I am coming, but I can't find the local number listed anywhere. Is there a way for me to find the local number?

The service center is Northwest Houston Service center.

I don't think they particularly care about the time but if your late they are within their right to reschedule.. I went for mine on 8/30 but had a valid reason to do so which the center supervisor sympathized with.

Is there a way you could talk to your teacher/instructor to arrange a different day for you to take the test? Tell him, in private, about your situation, and show him the USCIS memo if you must, but I think it's a better arrangement than showing up late for your biometrics appointment. If that's not possible, then see if you can reschedule your biometrics. You really have to work around your schedule if want this done.

Or try going to the center on Tuesday and speak to one of the supervisors. From my experience they're nothing but helpful.

U can definitely reschedule, or u can do a walk in like everyone (it seems) is doing. I think going in earlier (walking in) on a day u have free is a much better idea than showing up late. If u show up late u can be left at the mercy of some douche who just had a bad day, or wife cheated, or dog died, or whatever they would need to be in a pissy mood.

Do a walk-in. I'll be doing it on Thursday at the same location since I have to run some errands nearby. I am not going to wait until the 20th, plus I live almost an hour away. Fuck that.

I am going to talk to my professor about it this week, but the policy is there are no make up exams. So, yeah I doubt there is much that I can do.

I might consider doing a walk-in a week earlier.

Maybe the Professor can allow you to take the test a day earlier?

Usually if you have an excusable absence on your exam your final will cover that percentage. That's how it is in my school. I'm very worried I will stumble upon this problem as well since I have labs that are mandatory. I would call ahead and ask about doing a walk-in on a day you can spend several hours waiting. Otherwise, I would talk to your professor. However, in my school to have an excused absence you have to take it up to the university and that might be something you don't want to disclose depending on how you got into school. But yeah, walk-ins seem like the most viable option
