Wait is killing me. Does anyone have any factual information on how long the background check takes?

I received my confirmation a week ago and still haven't received a letter telling me my biometric appointment date/time. Is this normal?

If I understand this correctly, you ignored your scheduled biometrics date and did a walk-in Biometrics way AHEAD of your actual scheduled Biometrics date, correct? Now you are impatient about hearing more information post-biometrics. If you don't mind me asking, why are you in such a hurry? We're all impatient but we also have to remember to 'play by the rules' and keep calm, I don't get why you're in such a hurry....

from what i understand, mail from nebraska comes at a snail pace (ie 5 days here in queens Ny!!!) my thing was process on the 8/21 mail sent out at 8/23 and i got it on the 30th. Ridiculous!!!!

Yeah... why are some of you guys doing "biometric walk-ins". Does this mean.. we need to get our fingerprints done ourselves before our appointments? I thought USCIS was gonna do just that during our biometrics appointment?

You can call the FBI and ask for the status of your background check, the number is (304) 625-5590. You have to privide your A# and they can ONLY tell you if the check has been completed, and if it has, when the report was sent to USCIS. Last time I did a background check, 2 years ago, they completed the report and sent it to USCIS the same day of my biometrics appointment. Good Luck!

Oh wow, same day? That's fast. Well I hope it works out that way for us. I'm kind of in a hurry as well because I have things regarding school/work that need to get going ASAP. Trying to remain patient though.
