do u think american immigration system is broken?
i heard it all the time. broken broken

Re: do u think american immigration system is broken?
I think it's just the way it works out sometimes. People come to this country for different reasons. There are those who come here on vacation with a visa, overstay, marry and legalize by marrying a USC. I'm not saying that's bad. It's just that in many cases they just do it for PR. I've heard a few people talk about it laughing as if it's real funny that they got away with it. Then there are those who come to this country for necessity and I'm talking about with or without a visa. It's unfair that sometimes these people ACTUALLY fall in love, get married but then are denied PR. This is just one aspect of what's broken about the current immigration system. There are other things like visa approvals (who gets denied and who gets accepted), shady/scam lawyers(some people get deported when they shouldn't have), etc.

It's not broken, otherwise we all would have PR cards. The problem is that corporations encourage illegal immigration and the extra profits of having hired them exceed and cover any fines that they could possibly get.

Re: do u think american immigration system is broken?
It is broken. Let me explain. A true working immigration system is fair to poor and rich high skill and low skill. Im from Mexico and the only way to come here is if you can show you have cars, business, money in the bank, etc. What about people who are carpenters, cooks, dish washers, etc. If you go to the American embassy in Mexico city and you say i want to go to the US for two years and work as a farm worker or landscaper they laugh at you. Because there is no such thing. That's why people sneak in. Now, look at Canada and Australia. Go to the immigration websites and you will see that if you are a cook, plumber, etc there is a way for you to do it legally. You know why there is no legal way for poor people to come into the US? Simple!! America is the birthplace of capitalism!! Money talks and businesses want cheap labor. Just like America is addicted to drugs and oil. America is addicted to cheap labor.

Re: do u think american immigration system is broken?
Of course it's broken. Both my parents as well as my OLDER brother are American citizens. But because I turned 21, I'm no longer a child to my father. I'm his son, which the USCIS likes a lot less and thus, I have to leave the country to continue to adjust status. Only, if I leave, I face a possible 10 year ban. Keep in mind I have absolutely no criminal background, I pay my taxes, and I have a college degree.
Broken doesn't suffice. |

Re: do u think american immigration system is broken?
For one thing, Cubans only need to step foot in Florida to get a green card thanks to some law called wet foot dry foot. Haitians, who are just in need of aid, are sent back.
The same country we are living in is responsible for the dictatorship back in my home country. They backed him up! So my parents were pretty poor and came here for a better life. They've paid their taxes and we've lived here for 20+ years but we are regarded as nothing while people who marry for GC get theirs in 6 months. Why is there no channel to adjust? I understand the need for security but my parents are pretty clean in terms of criminal record Then think about the fact that there is a diversity visa skewed in its percentage. So you've got people who win these things. Get a green card. And go live in some other country. I heard of a couple who did just that. They won it in Russia and are now living in Europe and they come back to the US every few months to keep their PR status. Just a few |
