Dear Guatemalan dreamers, I need your advice

Long story short... I screwed up a bit >.<

I was able to get the money to renew my passport and matricula until today. Well, according to the internetz, I will have to spend an entire day at that awful place only to get my passport in 3 months. THREE MONTHS!!! It's not like I can call and get info... the damn place never picks up :(

Is this true? Have you gone to get your passport recently?

I was hoping to "squeeze" in this DACA process before my passport expired but I got the last of the records I had been waiting for until today.... and the story is starting to get long...

what is your experience??? there's NO info out there other than awful reviews.

And please feel free to share your experience with your consulate, any horror stories?? make me feel better.

I think people are getting approved with expired passports, just send any other IDs you have, and a translated birth certificate, but hurry up and apply asap!! ...btw, im not guatemalan, sorry to intrude lol

as long as your passport has a recent picture of you, they don't care about it being expired. i am not guatemalan either!

I'm not guatemalan but it does not matter if you're passport is expired. I sent in mine expired.

Thanks guys. I feel relieved with your responses. It's just something I still have to do anyways.

I'm headed over to the consulate armed with an extra load of patience to see what I can do or at least get some info.

Hey, I'm Guatemalan. All you need is your expired passport and a translation of your birth certificate. If your passport is current then you do not need your birth certificate.

Ok, i AM Guatemalan and I went to that damn place on the 19th of june, to get my passport AND my matricula. I got my Matricula one week later.... BUT my passport is nowhere to be found. They keep telling me that I should get it "next week" and that they extremely busy. :(

But, I think your matricula should be enough. I also sent a copy of my expired passport! Good luck!

Update! I realized I never mentioned it was the one in CA...

Anyways, I went. Took about an hour to do the process (not anywhere near as bad as I thought). It's going to take about 4, FOUR, months to get my passport... good thing I don't neeeed it to send in my application. Geez.

That place is ... is... just awful.

Geez, that is what I kept on hearing. People being given the "next week""next week". And also a lot of "I have no idea" and "I don't know" from the people who work there -_-'

I hope you get yours soon >.<
