Couple questions
Hello all,
I just had my DACA approved today so I'm pretty excited. Can't wait to get that work permit in the mail. I do have a few questions however. First, I accepted a job with a big auditing firm which will require a lot of traveling, some of it to foreign countries. How easy is it to request advance parole? I know they say they will grant you AP if you need to travel for work related reasons, but I wouldn't be able to wait 3-4 months before knowing if my AP got approved. Second, I believe this has been explained before but if my passport is expired, should I even bother applying for a SS # before I get I get my renewed passport back from the consulate? Will they give me a number or anything at all? Also, do you get a DACA card? or just the letter itself? Thanks a lot everyone! |

"Advance parole is very very dangerous my friend"

Re: Couple questions
If I was you, I would look for another job.

Re: Couple questions
Thank you for the replies. Anyone else able to offer some input?

Re: Couple questions
Advanced Parole is a huge risk. They might not let you back into the country. It is not recommended. Also, when I applied for an SSN # all they wanted was my EAD and Birth Certificate.

2. They do not accept expired IDs & passports. You can use your birth certificate though (no need to wait for passport renewal). Just take your EAD & birth certificate and you should be good to go. print this flyer for a complete list of accepted documents http://www.ssa.gov/pubs/deferred_action.pdf 3. No DACA card, just official letter stating they granted you DACA. |
Re: Couple questions
Thanks a ton! I wonder if the birth certificates have to be translated to English?

Re: Couple questions
1. Asking for Advanced Parole is not recommended , do a search for the thread
2. The SSA office will not take expired documents as proof of ID, i read some people took their original birth certificate so you may wanna try that 3. Some SSA offices do provide a printout of your number a few days after you apply, most don't they tell you to wait for card in the mail. 4. You only get the DACA letter, no card for that. EAD is a card Good luck! |
Re: Couple questions
i already applied for AP and it was routed to nebraska how long that will take is unknown. will they even approve it? i don't know. am going to use it to travel once granted without fear.

Re: Couple questions
about ap, seek an attorney. however, it is very risky indeed. will your job be at stake if you cannot travel? if so, start looking for another job
