SSN Question, Plz Help!
 
On monday i applied for a ssn and was given the receipt with two week delivery notice. But today (thursday) i went in to get a ssn printout and the lady told me that the system will "kick back" your name because the name is very common. She then told me to come in tomorrow with my expired passport as she wants to look at my previous entries in the passport.

My question is has anyone applied for a ssn with only the work permit and a birth certificate and received the card? (b/c that's what i used)

Should i be concerned? Any other thoughts? Thanks.

I applied for my SSN with EAD and birth certificate. She didn't even ask for a passport, actually I offered it to her.

Yeah I have. I applied for my SSN on October 16th and received the actual card on October 22nd. As for your question, I'm not really understanding what you're asking...Are you asking that if you take an expired passport you won't get your SSN?

Simply asking whether anyone applied for ssn with birth certificate and work permit and got their card.This way i can be sure the lady was just harassing me or something...

I applied for my SSN on 10/22/12. I was only asked for my EAD, and Foreign Birth Certificate. After the associate was finished, I was given a receipt. The receipt said I should receive it within 2 weeks. I received my ssn card in four days.

Yeah that's all I applied with. EAD and birth certificate. She was probably just giving you a hard time :cry:

I'm going tomorrow with my ead card and my valid Brazilian passport that should be enough right?

Yeah that should be enough, but you might want to take your Birth Certificate with you if its available, just in case.

So a foreign Passport will do?
