Texas driver's license
so i'm 24 and I know that I have to take an Adult Driver Education Course. What I want to know is...
what are the steps to obtaining a DL in Texas if you are under 25. ..when I go to get my state ID, do I ask about taking the practical driving exam? I looked online and I can take the drivers ed course right now...could i go ahead and take the course and then when the certificate comes in take that in and hopefully be able to take the exam that day..or should i go in and schedule a test date? (does this even make sense) you would think that i wouldn't find this hard to figure out or scary..but i do  |

Re: Texas driver's license
I believe that you have to take a 6 hour course, which once you complete it you have to take the certificate of completion to the DMV, then you will only take the driving test. I don't think you need an appointment, or at least I didnt do one, though it did take me about 2.5 hrs from beginning in line, written exam and driving test. Im also in SATX, and I went to the Babcock location which is very small, but they are going to open a DMV mega center this December, so I don't think it will take you as long as me. Also make sure that you take all the necessary documents, in Texas they require a lot of things like: proof of identity, actual social security card, proof of lawful presence, and 2 items to prove Texas residency. I saw several people who wiated hours in line only to get turned down for lack of proper documents. Good luck.
