Random Acts of Kindness
So the latest shooting has gotten me thinking. We are part of the issue, they way we treat each other/interact with each other shapes us as we grow. I've seen several threads on here alone where people are rude to each other for no apparent reason. People don't realize how their words can affect others. We also focus so much on the bad in people that I think it motivates others to copycat shootings, etc. I decided that instead of raging about how horrible people are that I would try to help restore the faith in human beings. I'm going to start doing random acts of kindness. I'm thinking of taping a single dollar bill at the gas station pump every time I tank up. I'll put a note on it that says "no act of KINDNESS is too small. Enjoy! :) " I think it'll make anyone's day to get a dollar! Just sharing my thoughts maybe it'll inspire some of you to do the same! This list also inspired me! I remember reading once awhile back about a man who was going to commit suicide but ended up not going through with it because that day someone had smiled and said hello to him. I know everything won't be rainbows, unicorns, and butterflies but it makes you think how a small thing can make someone's day :)

Re: Random Acts of Kindness
Geez I don't know, I was volunteering at ClackMas Town Center (the shooting at Oregon) and look what happened. So close to have gone to the food court.

Re: Random Acts of Kindness
I agree with you, OP. Being nice to someone randomly might make their day a little better.

Re: Random Acts of Kindness
1. Buy lunch for a homeless person.
2. Shovel elderly neighbors driveway, when it snows. 3. Help an old lady cross the street. 4. Look in the mirror and say I Love You. |
Re: Random Acts of Kindness
I'm always giving money away to homeless people or buying them food, it makes me sad and I see how much they suffer living on the streets..

Re: Random Acts of Kindness
Love this! I always try to be kind to others maybe I don't have money but I smile, say good morning, open the door, volunteer, anything really. Doing even something so small can mean the world to anyone. :)
It would be cool if we share random acts of kindness we've experienced! :) |

Giving homeless people money! :-(
Holding doors for people, especially handicapped....even if they take a while to get to the door.... Letting the elderly go before me at the checkout counter... |
Re: Random Acts of Kindness
I appreciate the effort, and I think the author definately knows their stuff... has better info than the wiki on the subject!
