Marriage, I-485 interview
Has any of you gotten married in the past few years? (to adjust status). If so, did you have your interview already?
I have my interview next week and..."I'm freaking the fuck out" doesn't even get close to describing how I feel. So if you have any advice or can tell me about your personal experience, I'd really appreciate it. |

Re: Marriage, I-485 interview
If you married for real you shouldn't need to worry, if you got married just to get adjustment then make sure you study up. It really depends on the interviewer, or so I've heard. Some might be really thorough, while others might just as one question. If you are doing everything right you have nothing to worry about.

Re: Marriage, I-485 interview
I've heard the degree of questioning depends on how long you were married for, usually people that have been married for 2 years or longer get less of a questioning than say a couple that have been married for a few months, also depends on how long you have been with your spouse. so as ernie said, if you are a legit couple you have nothing to worry about. also make sure you have your dates straight, you want to keep them the same as what you wrote in your paperwork for example: DOE, Date married etc..

I've heard that they ask intimate questions if they believe your relationship is a fraud. As long as you are a true couple and you have facts and proofs to back it up you should be fine. Best of luck, btw. Keep us updated. Would love to hear about your interview. My bf & I are planning to get married this year & we will apply for my aos here.

If they believe the marriage is fraudulent they will separate both Husband and Wife and ask each individual separate questions and than pan the other for answers to see if there is any fraud on the part of the applicant. If they don't suspect something most of the time the couple are interviewed together. |
