Are you a "dreamer"?
 

Do you consider yourself a "dreamer"? Everyone all over the place considers dreamers to be just scholars and what not...so where does it leave the rest of us, who just want to be plumbers, hairdressers, make up artists, musicians etc? Are we not "dreamers"? Some of my family members tend to tell me otherwise. That without college i'm going to get squat. (college drop out, wasting MY time there) the thing is how can they force the rest of us to follow other peoples dreams, my dream is to be an artist. I lived here all my life too, like most of you. Now we will pay taxes too, that's contributing to society too. -______-
Rants... just wondering what other similar people are thinking? I haven't met anyone like me :|

No disrespect to the scholarly kids by the way, if it seems that way.

I don't think the term dreamer is only for the scholar childhood arrivals, dreamers in my opinion is anyone who dreams of becoming apart of this country and apart of the American dream.

Idk back in 2001 a bill was made for to be in college and those in college finishing their degrees help pau for their education and maybe grant them a status if they finished the two main requirements ( conditional green card) it was aim to help these young people which sadly some of them have age now it we follow its current position. I don't consider myself to be a dreamer anymore since I am already done with school. It took a lot of work countless restless nights ( did everything from construction work to online selling) but I managed to finish so I don't need that financial aid a dream act would have given. So I don't consider myself a dreamer anymore. I did back when I was school but not anymore. Do I dream of a status? Yeah but it won't happen unless I make it happen even with so much support for a cir than ever before nothing can still happened so I can't rely on it. So if it doesn't pass I won't let it get to me and I'll continue to work for a status. DACA may just be a patch but its enough for me to keep going. So I am grateful for it.

Requirements for someone to be a "dreamer"

1. - Must be between the ages of 12 and 30 at the time the Law is enacted
2. - Must have arrived in the United States before the age of 16
3. - Must have resided continuously in the United States for a least five consecutive years since the date of their arrival
4. - Must have graduated from a U.S. High School, or obtained a General Education Diploma (GED)
5. - Must have "Good moral character" (no criminal convictions)

Simple as that!

Yeah that otherwise everyone would be calling themselves " dreamers"

Same here. I did my degree without the help of government funds, despite myself and my family being "taxpayers" . The only thing DACA has done for me is let me be able work legally, but I imagine, even if I didn't have it, I would be able to make something of myself elsewhere.

I also don't consider myself a "dreamer" in ideology. I don't think being in this country has given me any more opportunities than if I had stayed home. I used to think this country was welcoming and full of opportunities, but now after being done with school and having worked in oppressive conditions and dealing with immigration for more than 8 years, I think perhaps my time would have been spent best elsewhere where they would have perhaps appreciated and honed my talents better.

They must also either complete 2 years of college or military service.

Thats basically it, people who qualify for the DREAM Act.

I will admit I often feel weird when I refer to myself as a dreamer when speaking to other people. I guess cause I'm just not used to talking about it...idk. :lol:

I'm not a dreamer, I'm a fighter. I fight for my dreams to come true. If I just dream them then it won't come true.
