Anyone with last name problems on work permit.

Hello everyone,
I am desperate!!!!!!! I applied for a working permit thru DACA and i was approved the only problem is that the name on my card has both my fathers and mothers last names. I have never used my mothers last name. My social security card that i got when i first came to the USA only has what i consider to be my legal name, which is my fathers last name. Thru the years that is what i have used to work, open bank accounts, credit cards, etc etc etc. That is also the name that appears on my daughters birth certificate. I went to the dmv to apply for my learners permit and was denied, i was told that all my documents have to match. I contacted uscis about removing my mother's last name on my card and they said that they took my name as it appeared on my passport and that was my legal name. I called again and they said to make an appt in one of their offices, which i did i never got to see an immigration officer but the person behind the desk told me to reapply and write them a letter explaining my situation, i don't know if it will help. It sounds optimistic but at the same time its pretty much what the customer service person told me the first time i called. What seems to be really odd is that this is only happening to females. Males are only getting their cards with their father's last name even though they have both last names on their passport (i know this for a fact). I feel like i have to change my identity and what will happen to all the things i have acquired thru the years. Nothing will match.!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know of friends who cant take their medical license bc of this issue. Please if anyone out there is going thru the same scenario and you know what steps to take to fix this, let me know. This whole situation is like taking a step backwards and we have come so far!!!!!!

Actually the EAD (work permit) IS supposed to have both the father's and mother's last name. It is supposed to appear exactly how it is on your birth certificate. This is not only happening to females, trust me. USCIS will NOT remove a last name from your EAD. What you have to do is go to the Social Security office and have them add your mother's last name. Unfortunately, that is what you are going to have to use from now on. Your documents have to match your EAD, not the other way around.

Adapt to the new you... Consider it as a blessing and go to the SSA to make the change.
You already contacted USCIS.

Same thing happened to me. Always used my father's last name. HOWEVER, I love my mother's last name and I'm happy it's now "legally" my last name. If you go to college, just change your name with student records!! But you really don't have to. But all your legal documents should have your mother's last name.

I actually want to eliminate my father's last name. When I was getting my SSC, I asked the lady attending me about it, and she said when I get my permanent residency or citizenship (I think it was the latter), she said I can change my name to whatever I want. So there you have it.

I am a male and my EAD has both of my last names. Like the people above me said, what you need to do is go to the SSA office and show them your EAD as well as your birth certificate so that they can add your mother's last name to your ss#.

Have you tried going to a different DMV? ( a different location from the one u were denied at).I had an EAD before, and my last name on the EAD is my middle name on my passport. The same thing with my DL. The order of my names on my DL is not the same as in my passport. You should be able to get ur learner's permit if u show ur EAD receipt notice, EAD approval letter, EAD, birth certificate and passport.
Just suggestions!
