How will we obtain college education??
 

Ok so this might seem like a dumb question but here goes....
If this immigration reform is passed one of the stipulations for DACA recipients to adjust their status to LPR is 2 years military, college degree or 2 years completed on a bachelors degree. ...

Now for someone like me who has not had any college education how can I go to college working full time to support myself? An associates degree for full time students takes 2 years.

But working full time and having to pay out of pocket for school b/c we do not qualify for financial aid could take 4 years if you take 2-3 classes a semester.

which means it would take even longer to apply to be a LPR.
If you enter the military I am not sure if they would pay for your education if you are active duty being that your not a citizen.

Has anyone else thought of these things?
I am happy enough just working my way up. I was going to go to college after I was a LPR but I see that will not be possible.

Start taking classes now. Lots of people on this board have gone to community college for 2 or more years until they had enough credits to transfer to a four year college. Many have paid out-of-state tuition and have worked full time to be able to pay those fees. No excuse about why you can't go if you are working full time. Even if you take one class a semester or Saturday classes, going to school is a sacrifice that you have to make.

This sacrifice does not only include Dreamers, but also many USCs that couldn't afford to go to school full time. I don't understand why some people think they should get special treatment.

Some states offer instate tuition. And community college is affordable. You just need to gain the discipline to have all your earnings go towards your education. There are many people out there that work and go to school full time. It is difficult but, doable.

I am saying this because I have been a burden to my family. I was paying rent to family i have been living with. so i could not afford both rent and school. 2nd I will be getting an appartment. so thats rent, car insurance and school. Im far from a lazy person. but i hear what your saying some school is better than none.

Yeah, if you can't afford to be a student full time, then just enroll in a weekend class or see which evening classes they offer. Go speak with a counselor to find out which classes you need to take to get your AA or to transfer. Good luck.

This. I don't know what your life circumstances are, but just know that countless people have completed college degrees in the face of financial and psychological adversity. No one said it'd be easy.

Some community colleges offer year around classes maybe even online classes so you can do it in one year!!

Don't all DACA approved have to show some kind of proof that we are studying once we renew or something? Isn't that the point of getting DACA? To study? I'm sure they can take it all away if they find out we are not doing something productive. This also worries me since I graduated HS in 2009 and I haven't taken any college classes and since this permit is only for two years, I start to worry if I'll be "behind" some ppl that are already in college or got a degree already. I also have to help out my parents with bills and all that so it's not like I have tons of maneu saved. Also, it probably doesn't help that I am living on a state where I didn't even graduated from (for instate tuition/financial help).
