New...

Hello there, I've been checking out this site for a while now, and I thought, what the hell, I'll register. I'm 19 years old, turning 20 soon. I've moved from Italy exactly 6 years ago now, and have always lived in Florida since then. I came here and did 8th grade, and successfuly completed middle school and high school (last year) So now I'm sitting here, like most of you guys, can't work, can't get drive, and mostly, can't go to college. It sucks, and tonight was just sad...I hope things get solved soon. I love being here, I really do. I love the community. Back in High School I volunteered at some middle school, got awarded best volunteer of the year in that county that year. Sad to see that people like us, who care so much about where we are, are always getting stuck behind...I'm starting to think that I just don't know what to do anymore...

welcome. i am sorry that you too are going through this. and from ur "name" i see that you haven't lost hope. the only thing i can recommend if you have a state id (and maybe an ITIN#) to register online @ a community college and hope to get in (it worked for me and a lot of people i know). i hope things get better for u n us all.

Yeah... hoping.. *sighs a bit* But.. hm... that's an interesting idea... I do not have either.. ><.....but.. just out of curiousity... you mean registering online as in actually registering and then go to the actual community college, or like, do you mean taking online college courses? o.o... just making sure..

I know there was someone who moved to Miami, FL (?) and went to college here. I forgot who it was, forgive me. Can you speak up if you read this?

Welcome to DAP, by the way.

well the CC i go to doesn't check if the info is true or false (most don't) so if u have an id, u can register online, then go to the school to pay (show ur id) and take regular or online classes.

Ah! *laughs* I just replied to you on another topic, but um.. yeah.. just exactly..how did you get in? Do they accept undocumented people down there, or what?

frbc13 06-08-2007 12:58 PM

What city or part of Fl are you from? When I went to enroll I just told the girl my situation straight up, I didn't tell her "oh i don't have an ID blah blah blah" I told her "I'm undocumented and I want to enroll" she said I would have to pay out of state but I already knew that, I filled in the registration form right there and then I gave her my H.S. transcripts and my passport so she could make a copy and that was it. it took about 20 mins. It's called Miami Dade College by the way.
